Yaaa.........NO
Very dissapointed in this anthology. Its more a proffessor-ship style of stories, none really very scary. I kept losing my attention on which story I had been reading- it took me 3 years to complete this book, which is horrible as I am a voracious reader! yes, they're all about Halloween-which we are LURED to think will be frightning.... but some are just rambling tales that end suddenly, leaving one to wonder "and , so, ummm.?" There were a few famous Author remembrances of Halloween, which were whimsical and slightly interesting, but NONE were the least bit frightning. Not at all what I expected, but ok I guess if theres nothing else in the house to read.

finally, a bible for halloween enthusiasts!
You need to buy this book if you are passionate about Halloween because just like It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, this is something you'll want to re-visit every October. I've had it for three years now and now it's become an October icon to me, just like pumpkins, dead leaves, candy corn, and those unmistakeable autumn scents. If I want to feel the Halloween spirit immediately, then I read this book outside while eating candy or drinking hot chocolate... it works every time (especially if I'm in a cemetery)!
October Dreams is over 600 pages and is filled with suspenseful short stories, fascinating essays, and charming collections of authors' favorite Halloween memories. A few of my favorite stories are "The Black Pumpkin" by Dean Koontz, "The Whitby Experience" by Simon Clark, "Boo" by Richard Laymon, "The Circle" by Lewis Shiner, and the twisted and grotesque "Pay the Ghost" by Tim Lebbon.
I bet that in Halloweentown, this is the book Jack Skellington reads most nights before going to bed.

Hits all the right notes
This compilation is practically guaranteed to delight the Halloween enthusiast. Some stories are creepy, some funny, some nostalgic. All in all, a remarkable celebration of what makes Halloween so much fun.

Prolonging the Season
Good, long volume. I am a huge reader of short-fiction Horror. This anthology features a range of styles in the genre, from light to heavy. I read it a little at a time throughout the winter, and it helped prolong the magic of Halloween time. Minor complaint--a few of the authors' Halloween Memories are "phoned-in."
