Review of Face of Betrayal (A Triple Threat Novel)
Fox News legal correspondent and former Federal Prosecutor Lis Wiehl has created a suspense novel that's as timely as tomorrow's headlines.
While home on Christmas break, a seventeen-year-old Senate page takes her dog out for a walk and never returns. Reporter Cassidy Shaw is the first to break the story. The resulting media firestorm quickly ensnares Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce and FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges. The three unique women are life-long friends who call themselves The Triple Threat--a nickname derived from their favorite dessert and their uncanny ability to crack cases via their three positions of power.
Though authorities think Katie might have been kidnapped or run away, those theories shatter when Nicole uncovers Katie's blog. They reveal a girl troubled by a mysterious relationship with an older man. Possibly a U.S. Senator.
As the three women race against time to find Katie alive, their increasing emotional involvement brings out their own inner demons and external enemies. There are many faces of betrayal, but they must find one face in a crowd of growing suspects before they become the next victims.
In Face of Betrayal, Lis Wiehl's expertise in law, politics, and criminal investigation merges with April Henry's narrative genius to create a gripping mystery filled with rich characters, real danger, and a shocking yet satisfying final twist.

We Love You, Lis!
Lis & April -
We enjoyed the audiobook very much and are working on our second time through it!
The twists and turns in the plot and your narrative are excellent. We still believe that you are a lib, Lis, (ala Shep Smith reference) but will forgive your making the Senator a "Republican Bad Guy" if you keep on using those excellent Christian references! Keep on wearing the cross under your blouse when you can't let it show.
Continuted good fortune with your Journalism!
Cordially,
Betsy and Jack Overton

Poorly written, not worth a read
It's been months since I finished Face of Betrayal (a Triple Threat Novel). I waited a long time to review it because I hoped the bitter taste it left would dissipate the longer I waited. It has not. The novel was poorly written, with flat, shallowly developed characters and a thinly-disguised level of disgust for anyone not in line with the conservative agenda. When I order an AmazonVine book, I make it a point not to read about the author and/or their affiliations under afterwards; however, within 25 pages, I was so overwhelmed by the blatant political posturing that I had to look up Ms. Wiehl. I have read similar offerings from better writers which I have enjoyed reading, whether or not I agreed with their character's political stance. However, this book's posturing combined with the poor quality of writing made it difficult to finish (though finish it, I did).

Decent, but hardly original
This mystery thriller novel (as described by the back flap) is more of a political thriller which revolves around the disappearance of Katie Converse, a 17 year old senate page as law enforcement works to find her. It's subtitled "a Triple Threat" novel because of the three female lead characters that work together to solve the murder, and eat chocolate cake. Allison the federal prosecutor, Nicole the FBI Special Agent, and reporter Cassidy all form an unlikely trio of friends entangled in the Katie Converse disappearance.
There is nothing new in this novel. In fact as political thrillers/mystery novels go it's really basic in it's scope. Cheating scum senators, hysterical parents, teenage rebellion- it's all there and it's all something you've read before, whether in the headlines or similar novels. Is this what makes"Faces of Betrayal" a bad novel? Not yet. The problem was it's lack of originality kept me from being able to read it in a timely fashion, and in fact had to re-read it in order to write this review because I could barely recall much of any of the characters. I just didn't care about any of them, nor Katie for that matter. If your reader can't remember the victim, or many of the main characters- you know you've written a forgettable mystery. It was too basic in scope to keep me interested, I couldn't find anything new, or even a character I enjoyed enough to continue reading. However, I am giving it 3 stars because it was cohesive, had a good flow and I liked the blog entry insight into Katie's character.

A well done mystery set in Portland, OR......
When Katie Converse, a 17 year old Senate Page turns up missing, it is up to the "Triple Threat" to try to link together what happened. The Triple Threat is comprised of Federal Prosecutor, Allison Pierce, FBI Special Agent, Nicole (Nic) Hedges and Reporter Cassidy Shaw (the name comes from their favorite shared chocolate dessert at one of their frequent hangouts). The three find their paths crossing frequently, and over time they have formed a friendship and an alliance.
The mystery builds as it becomes evident that Katie may have been more than just a page, to one of the Senators. Is she alive? Throughout the book more characters pop up that could have had motives to remove Katie from the picture entirely.
The book is well paced, and is a bit reminiscent of the Women's Murder Club books that are written by James Patterson. If you enjoy this type of mystery, (and I do), you will probably want to give Lis Wiehl's book a try, as you are most certain to enjoy it.
