Nightbane is the story of Aric Thornblade who used to be a average joe until a suspicious Victor Pendragon crosses his path. Victor offers Aric a simple mission to take out a group of people with the condition of bringing their head as evidence. Aric does well until he tries to help a prisoner f the group. The prisoner actually bites Aric thus he is now infected the disease knowing vampirism.

We then fast forward in time to a particular hunt where Aric is draining a girl of her blood and he starts getting nauseous. He later finds out that he has AIDS. His enemies then find out about his ailment and try to destroy him. Aric kidnaps his nurse and forces himself on her in hope of creating a child in order to make her into a strong vampire to help him overthrow his enemies. She becomes a usurper vampire with the ability to steal vampire powers. Carli becomes tired with Arica and disposes of him. Carli joins Arics' old enemy Omnus in order to try to find a cure. They learn of a cure in a remote are Carli sets off to find the cure. She meets other vampires with amazing abilities and usurps their powers also.

Carli comes back to Pittsburgh to finish Aric off. Aric was planning for her so he is waiting. Night bane is truly awesome and epic. There is never a dull moment and it hurts to put it down. I found myself engrossed with the characters and actually generating emotional feelings for them. I have read the whole Anne Price Trilogy and this first installment is more appealing and epic with vampire folklore various locations that most trilogies that I have read this far. And the best part is that it's only in one boo and I can't wait for the next installment. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I am craving more and I wish to tell Travis Lyon that I want a copy of the next one as soon as possible.
