Cure: A Strandville Zombie Novel (Strandville Zombie Series) (Volume 1) Review
Cure was a great read, and I enjoyed most of it tremendously. It was my first time reading the author’s work, and I cannot wait to see what happens next in Afterbirth. The book got my attention from the beginning, and I love this book so much that I finished reading it in 3 days. The author, Belinda Frisch, is terrific at describing details, and I pictured everything I was reading, I felt as though I was watching the movie of this book while reading it.
Cure is about romance, zombies, a mad scientist heartless doctor, cancer, abductions and pregnant females carrying babies that are ...
Scott and Miranda was married when Miranda gave birth to a stillborn baby which led her to know that she cannot carry a baby to full term. She divorces Scott although Scott did not want the divorce, but Miranda wanted him to find someone he can have a child with. Miranda then moved to Strandville to work at the Nixon Center which was referred to her by her doctor, Dr. Michael. Upon arriving at Strandville, she got strange vibes from the Porter store when she saw all the missing girls posters. Miranda later learned that she only got the job for one special reason, a future test subject. But she was too late to react because Dr. Nixon had already impregnated her with the zombie sperm. Miranda learned that she needed Scott in her life more than she knew. Will Miranda keep her baby, not knowing what the baby is and if she will survive?
Dr. Howard Nixon is a heartless doctor who owns his medical center in a lonely town that needs medical help. He claims that he is looking for a cure for cancer and captures/kills anyone that comes in his way or tells his secrets of what goes on in his center. He does a series of experiments which are cruel, inhuman, gory, sickening to the stomach and just plain wrong. Dr. Nixon is creating zombies with a virus he created. He takes the sperm from these zombies and transfers them to females in an inhuman way so they will have zombie babies. Dr. Nixon believes that if he can get one of these babies to be alive when born, then he can get the cure for cancer. He feels that there are many people dying from cancer that don’t need to, but in actuality he is kidnapping and killing so many people to find this cure.
Zach is married to Allison who has cancer in its last stage and is a patient of Dr. Nixon. Dr. Nixon hires Zach as a security guard in return for treating Allison. Zach discovers all the wrong things that Dr. Nixon is doing and was warned not to say anything or Allison will pay the price. Zach made a decision that led to Allisons abduction by Dr. Nixon. Now Zach who once told Scott that he will help him find Miranda is faced with a decision once again if it is worth it to trade Miranda to Dr. Nixon for his wife Allison. What will Zach do and will Scott and Miranda find out what Zach is thinking?
I was eating at one point while reading this book, and I had to stop eating because of all the descriptive details of all the evil Dr. Nixon is doing to the zombie patients/hostages. There was so much blood, flesh cutting, flesh eating and way too much gory stuff for me, but I loved the suspense and rushed to find out what will happen next. This book grossed me out, but I still enjoyed reading it.
