Birth Place: Owensboro, Kentucky, USA
Johnny Depp was born on June 9, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky, USA. His birth name is John Christopher Depp II, and he does not practice any religion. His mother is Betty Sue who was a waitress and his father is John Christopher Depp Senior who was a city engineer. Johnny would sometimes sit with his mother after work and help her count her tips for the day. He has three older siblings who he is very close with. His brother Danny (DP) is a screenwriter; sister Christie is his personal assistant and sister Debbie. Johnny admires his mother greatly and speaks fondly of her and all the hard work she has done and all the sacrifice she made for her children. He is from Irish, Indian, Scots-Irish, Scottish, Welsh, French, Dutch, Belgian and German ancestry. His great grandmother was 100 percent Cherokee and lived to be 102 years old. He was very close and attached to his grandfather whom would tell stories to Johnny. He was heartbroken at age seven when his grandfather passed away and dealt with his grief in a supernatural way. He said he would feel his grandfather's presence whenever he was in a crisis.
He is 5' 10" (1.78 m), and two of his nicknames are Mr. Stench and Colonel. His family moved to Miramar, Florida when Johnny was seven years old and lived in many motels until his father found a secure job. His family moved around a lot and lived in about twenty different houses by the time Johnny was 15 years old. Moving around made Johnny misbehave, reckless and soon start following rock music. He was smoking and drinking at twelves years old. Johnny and his friends dug a tunnel in Johnny’s yard with a plan to dig an escape tunnel from his bedroom to the yard. Johnny was a troubled student who got in a lot of trouble and his peers and teacher. One teacher embarrassed him in front of his class, and he dropped his pants and mooned the teacher. He pulled a lot of stunts with his friends and one of his stunts backfired on him. He soaked a shirt in gasoline and set it on fire to imitate Gene Simmons fire eating trick. Johnny's face went up in flames after the act backfired, and he lied to his mom and told her it was fireworks that did the damage to his face so that he would not get into trouble.
He then dropped out of school when he was 15 years old to become a rock musician. He was in the third year of highschool and only had about eight credits. He started his acting career after visiting Los Angeles, California with then wife, Lori Anne Allison. Lori introduced Johnny Depp to actor Nicolas Cage, and he made his grand appearance in A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). He became famous for his role in television series 21 Jump Street (1987) as undercover cop Tommy Hanson.
He is an American actor, producer, director and musician that is famous worldwide. He has the Screen Actor Guild award and a Golden Globe Award. He has about 13 tattoos with most of them representing events and people in his life. He has his daughter's name Lily-Rose tattooed across his heart and his mother's name; Betty-Sue tattooed across his left bicep on May 31, 1988. He also has his son's name; Jack tattooed on his right forearm with a sparrow flying over the water towards him.
Johnny married Lori Anne Allison in 1983 and divorced her in 1985. He then got engaged to actress Jennifer Grey and Sherilyn Fenn in the 1980s. He proposed to his Edward Scissorhands co-star Winona Ryder in 1990 and tattooed "Winona Forever" on his right arm. He covered that tattoo after their break up making it read Wino Forever. He had a four-year relationship with British supermodel Kate Moss after his split with Winona.
He met French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis while filming The Ninth Gate and began dating her. They had daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp, who was born on May 27, 1999, and son John "Jack" Christopher Depp III who was born on April 9, 2002. Johnny’s daughter fell sick with an E. coli infection that caused her kidneys to shut down and was treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Johnny was thankful to the hospital for saving his little girls life that he dressed up in his Captain Jack Sparrow outfit and spent four hours reading to the kids at the hospital in 2007. He also donated two million dollars (US money) to the hospital in 2008. Vanessa and Johnny had a vineyard in Plan-de-la-Tour north of Saint-Tropez that they grew grapes and had wine making facilities. They ended their relationship in June 2012.
