Mediocre game with gorgeous presentation and excellent story
You've heard all the positives about BG&E already, and most all of them are true. The graphics are amazing (especially for 2003), the score is the best I've ever heard in a game, and the story is splendid, if a little rushed. What you rarely hear about are the negatives, which is what I'm going to warn you about here.
The game's biggest flaw is, quite simply, that it's criminally easy. The basic combat is so simple throughout the entirety of the game that it feels like a drawn-out prologue section of a Zelda game - you know, the parts where you only have the sword and a very basic projectile weapon. The puzzles aren't particularly challenging, either. The game does provide the great twist of being able to take pictures of the various creatures of the world - this mechanic is excellent and adds a lot of immersion to the game. But, overall, this game feels like a child's game in terms of complexity and difficulty. It would be a good stepping stone to games like Zelda for someone who was moving from adventure titles to action-adventure games.
Regardless of the overly simplistic combat and puzzles, I still strongly suggest that you buy this game. It's worth slogging through the sometimes-juvenile gameplay for the photography, superb story, and fantastic presentation - those are what have established this as an underrated classic. Play it, and you'll wish that more games had such good stories.

Great Action-adventure game
Action-adventure games are very popular, Beyond Good and Evil (BGE) is one of those, it was designed by Michel Ancel and developed by Ubisoft, BGE was released in late 2003. I love this game, it combines a lot of videogame's genres (action-adventure, steal game, flight and race simulator y shooter), it has a great story and graphics, it is fully recommend for all ages.
Another funny thing about the game is that Jade the protagonist take pictures of animals of Hillis, like Nintendo's Pokémon Snap, you take photos and earn money for each of them.
The only thing that I don't like about the game are the camera's angles when you hide and steal enemies the angles are too slow or too high to see them.

Great little Gem - People often miss great little games like this
This is a game I didn't know existed til it poped up on the recommended suggestions on Amazon. If you get stuck in your adventure on not knowing what to do there is a nice walkthru on Youtube and you can see for yourself what to do if your stuck.
It's a short game you can probably do in one day in a marathon or 2 days. Without giving away the overall plot with your main character I must point out 2 problems I found with this game.
Problem #1 - The game story line is great, except they left more questions than answers at the end. They left the main character background too vague. I can't say more than that or give away the storyline ending but i'm sorry they needed to spend more time at the end with the confrontation at the end to explain more of the DOM versus Main character connection in relation to her parents her abilities, etc.
Problem #2 - In the final FINAL fight sequence of the game, it all boils down to doing a fight sequence right completely. If you don't do moves just right you can go thru all the healing you have and fail. The moves the mob at the end are the same move sequence over and over to the point i memorized what the moves are and what action to take and after 20 heal pots FINALLY got the ending. That is rediculous that you know exactly what the mob will do, and if you don't do it just right it repeats at the begining again of the move sequences.
Other than those 2 problems, this game i would love to play again. It's graphics are amazing, the storyline is great to a POINT. There needs to be more explaination at the end than there is. Piggy says don't listen to them Jade! I was like yes listen i want to know more on the storyline what it is!
I hope for a better explaination of the PLOT!! OTher than That you are all missing a TRUE GEM of a game. STEALTH is the KEY in alot of things here. I would love to keep playing this game or any follow up game to this if there is one. It's that good, just fix the final final game mechanices of the main fight. That was rediculous.

I loved this game!
The story line was great with purpose, meaning and heart; the graphics were beautiful; wage earning was interesting and different; and the music, ambiance and voice acting were all very well done. The interface was easy and cool. I thoroughly enjoyed sneeking around the world of Hillys and her moon. Ah, those Alpha Sections were too funny with their dialog and actions when under attack. And the cut scenes were sweet with action and drama. Please, please, please, Michel Ancel make a squel! And Ubisoft, please be smart enough to support it!!!

Quick Review!
Bad News First:
1. Controls. Very frustrating. Mouse/keyboard controls can be hard to use when angles are turned around. Also, extra mouse buttons (4,5,6) cannot be mapped.
2. Camera. It's bad enough that camera angles turn you around at the most inopportune moments, but sometimes they lock at angles where the mouse doesn't move restricting your view.
3. Fighting. You only have a handful of attacks that do not improve much through out the game.
4. Saving. There are save areas instead of saving wherever you like. This really isn't so bad since if your character dies you start off before certain areas.
Good News:
1. Visual design. Jaw-dropping, beautifully designed landscapes. Very few games are as clever and intricate in the construction of the buildings and land. Stunning. The Lighthouse is amazing.
2. Character designs. Unique, quirky and cool. Many species and variations there of.
3. Action. The fight sequences are exciting as well as the "running" scenes! Not to mention the "matrix-esque" photography for a certain move.
4. Tag-teams. Pey'j and Double H are used along the way to help in fights and traps that need to be unlocked.
5. Photography. Not the game's design photgraphy but Jade's camera! You take your own personal pictures or the photos of the animals on Hilly for $!
6. Acting. Terrific voice acting! My personal favorite was the barrel-chested soldier Double H.
7. Music. Riveting compostions that vary in certain situations. My favorite track though is a Brazilian-type music that you hear during the races.
8. Racing. Lots of fun and you win pearls that are needed in the game to purchase items.
All in all the use of the above pros are well directed into a unique experience. It's a terrific game!
PS: Anyone else catch the very end of the credits? Sea-quill!
