completely original storyline with imaginative humor and story line in a very unique way
Sick of first person shooters or RPG's? Then read on!
* Original Storyline Exclusively On The PSP System - Compelling and completely original storyline with Twisted noir humor and violence in a portrayal of revenge and redemption in an artistically unique environment
* Dynamic Camera Revolutionizes Action Gameplay - Dynamic camera that immerses you into the action without having to control a manual camera
* Head Mechanic Offers An Innovative And Refreshing Twist On Action Gameplay - Each of the 9 collectible heads offer unique gameplay mechanics as you switch heads on the fly to explore new ways to progress through the game
* Novel Combat Moves - Unique combat moves, including head-pound, nut-punch, head-hunting, combos and more as you slaughter enemies in multiple ways
* Blend of Platform and Action Adventure - Battle enemies on large and small scales to utilize the attributes of each head and the open-ended gameplay
It is one of those games that is full of imagination and humor, with the good ole' horror theme entrenched within. Another game similar (in creativity with horror and humor) is Stubbs the Zombie.

A Head Swapping Good Time!
I came across this game one day browsing through psp titles, read the reviews and decided to make the purchase. This is a damn fine game. The dialogue is well written and is actually funny, i mean funny enough to make me laugh out loud. I mean look at the cover, its a guy with a brain in a jar for a head. The graphics are really impressive for a psp title. The whole head swapping mechanic is a great deal of fun and seems to keep the game feeling fresh as you progress. Each head gives you different abilities and they are upgradable. It does have some slightly annoying load times but i've seen worse. I hate to use a cliche line, but this one is a diamond in the rough!

The PSP isn't dead
To tell you the truth, I really didn't expect much from this game that I picked up at Best Buy for the sole reason that it was cheap. When I put it in my PSP and played it for a little while, though, I saw that I had gotten my hands on more than I expected.
Dead Head Fred is a superb entry on the PSP, worthy of being compared to the portable entries of GTA. From the PS2-worthy graphics to the gut-busting dialogue (which won some kind of prestigious writing award, apparently), "quality" is the word that the developers were obviously operating by.
The head-swapping gameplay is very interesting, allowing to rip off monsters' heads and wear them in order to utilize their powers.
The part that stuck with me the most, however, was the amazing sound. As a longtime anime fan, I was pleased to see that some of my favorite V.A.s had parts in this game, and the aforementioned writing justifies this purchase.
All-in-all, DHF is one of those PSP games that PSP owners can flaunt to their DS-owning friends (however, since I own both, this isn't exactly a major concern to me ^_^). If you have a PSP, get this game. I mean, NOW. Run out and buy it. You won't regret it!

The best game nobody bought...ever.
I bought this game looking for an original game that was exclusively for the psp. I picked this one up very shortly after it was released, being very impressed with the videos I saw of it. Unbelievable.
This game captivated me immediately with it's brilliant script and, in my opinion, amazing looking graphics and sound. Art direction is inspired, looking almost like a "Mark Ryden" style. The gameplay, while some say repetitive, I loved the most. Controls are very responsive and has plenty of variety with its head-changing abilities. Great animation, varying on which head you use. It also has some of the best voice acting I've heard in a game, even though the story isn't meant to be very serious. Also, this is a BIG game. It's amazing how much there is to do, and how many secrets there are in the game. Truly expansive.
The only slightly annoying thing I found were the very frequent load times, and load in for some of the dialogue animations (sometimes they speak after they're lips already stop moving). That's the only problem I really saw.
Great game for all psp owners, and very tragic that it's so overlooked. Here's to hoping for a sequel in the future, but I'm not holding my breath for it. For this price, it's a steal!
