  by casual i don't mean wii - i play games when i need a diversion from the day to day bs. i like sci-fi, i like a good story and i like good graphics. this game sux, and this is not coming from a halo fanboy or a killzone fanboy or anything else. i think halo sucks too (though for different reasons) and it's the only other pure fps i've every played, but that's beside the point. the cover system in this game gets in the way of the combat. i don't know how many times i've gotten stuck on either side of a doorway when all i wanted to do was go THROUGH the doorway. that REALLY sucked the first time i fought the berserker. also it really sucks to have to take cover behind an obstacle before you can jump over it. i've learned how to do that without too much trouble but it still smacks of bad design. and this is not even to mention the ridiculous stupidity of battling through a warzone that is completely literred with broken highway median concrete slabs. how on earth did they get so far from the highway? this next statement i mean completely literally: when you play this game you end up fighting the controls as much or more so than the enemies. i've only just gotten to the the part of the game with the kryll but i'm just about ready to say screw it. and the story in this game really really really really sucks. all i know about what's going on is that i'm sposed to be finding group of people and getting them out. some games tease you buy just parsing out story details slowly but surely. and this works if the game designers themselves care about the story. i write short stories quite often. a story can be short and spare but still pack a serious punch. this game feels like the designers took maybe a couple hours sticking it together and then moved on. they obviously cared more about the the guns, monsters and boom designs than they did about their story - which is a shame cuz the graphics aren't that cute. they made a ton of money on the game though which is good for them, but still, you know what this game like? a missed opportunity.

  My son really has enjoyed this game. He likes to play online with his friends. The game arrived in very good condition and he has had no problems with the performance of the game. He's really happy I ordered it for him.

  Better late than never.
  
  Heard about this game when it first came out 3 years ago. So im 3 years late in playing it. But... better late than never. The game is surprisingly good. Realllly reallly good. It is the only game that i've ever played that made me feel as if I was watching a movie, and playing as the main character in that movie. The game is really just that good. The graphics, gameplay, music, voice work are great. The enemy AI is really impressive, but main thing that I liked about the game was the camera.... it didn't suck. In a few games that I played, I was faced with camera issues that ruined game play and the experience of playing the game a bit. But as I played this game, I didn't have any annoying camera issues that drove me nuts, and I was able to have fun playing the game, especially during combat. A 100% very high quality produced game. Kudos to the team that put this one together. Well done. Looking forward to playing Gears of War II.

  Genius. And I disagree with others: it is not too short
  
  This is one amazing game. Three years later it has lost none of its jaw-dropping power. I suppose it could be considered short by some, but the fact that each element of gameplay and graphics is so meticulously crafted, the visuals are so richly detailed, and the combat is so intense, I'd say it is the perfect length. If it was much longer I think players would get tired of mowing down hordes of similar enemies.
  
  If the game has a flaw, though, that is it: that the enemies fall into about 4 categories, and you've seen them all by the middle of the game, so by that mid-point, you don't really have to learn any new tactics or modify your gameplay style at all. I would have liked to see something new after a while.
  
  However, that's a small grievance and shouldn't detract at all from the overall glee that you will experience as you dash from cover to cover blasting the living hell out of hordes of truly despicable aliens. This game makes you feel like you are inside the biggest action movie ever made: Aliens, Predator, Starship Troopers, whatever-have-you, this game lets you "live" your fantasies with more action and intensity than even those movies depicted. An amazing achievement and a truly satisfying entertainment experience. I would suggest this for anyone remotely interested in action games.

  Addictive and Challenging
  
  This game is full of fun. Its not as simple as your other shooter games. Provides thrills and plenty of chills. Even the most macho man will jump several times in fear. Great fun!
