He Knows You're Alone Review
Synopsis:A young bride-to-be is being stalked upon by a serial killer. She gets help from a former lover, but will they manage to escape?
He Knows You’re Alone (1980) is an American thriller movie that is 94 minutes long and was filmed in several location in New York. Director Armand Mastroianni (Invasion (1997), The Celestine Prophecy (2006), Cameron’s Closet (1988), Pandemic (2007)) did an awful job directing this movie. I think the movie had potential, maybe it was the screenplay at fault - whatever it is, the movie did not excel. There is no reason behind the numerous needless killing.
He Knows You’re Alone revolves around a serial killer Ray Carlton (Tom Rolfing) who kills young brides. Detective Len Gamble (Lewis Arlt - Another World (1964), Search for Tomorrow (1951), Confessions of a Dangerous Mime (2004)) fiance was murdered by Ray because she refused to marry Ray on their wedding day. She changed her mind and wanted to be with Len instead which she did not get in the end. Len made it his mission to find his fiance’s killer but gave up several years later after having no leads. He went back on the path of finding her killer not too long after that because of a bride to be that was murdered in a movie theater.
Amy Jensen (Caitlin O’Heaney - Tales of the Gold Monkey (1982), Late Phases (2014), The Emperor’s Club (2002)) is engaged to Phil (James Carroll - As the World Turns (1956), Loving (1983), Girls Nite Out (1982)) and hesitates about her decision after Phil leaves for his bachelor party. Ray has spotted Amy in the dress store and did not hesitate to start his killing spree again by killing the clerk at the dress store. We then see Ray following her around and killing almost everyone that she knows. Her ex-boyfriend Marvin (Don Scardino - The Incredible Burt Wonderstone (2013), 30 Rock (2006), Another World (1964), 2 Broke Girls (2011)) who works at a local morgue and wants to rekindle their relationship. After a few events, Amy fears for her life as she sees a man in her yard and everywhere else she goes.
The movie has no tension, no thrills, no suspense and no entertainment. I do not recommend this movie to horror fans because this movie appears to be a bite off of other movies in the worst way possible. The actors did an okay job, but that could not save the movie. The serial killer basically kills everyone with his famous knife that I got tired of seeing. I am not sure why someone would make a movie that is so similar to other movies and not make it stand alone by adding more elements.
