Exorcist: The Beginning (IV) (2004)

2004 | R | Horror, Thriller, Mystery

User Score: 59/100

Years before Father Lancaster Merrin helped save Regan MacNeil's soul, he first encounters the demon Pazuzu in East Africa. This is the tale of Father Merrin's initial battle with Pazuzu and the rediscovery of his faith.

Exorcist IV: The Beginning is an overdue prequel to the series. After Exorcist II being a boring flop and Exorcist III being a not so good continuation to the original Exorcist story. Part 4 goes a step further by explaining where the first movie is from and what purpose it serves.

This version I think did serve the original some justice. The original feeling that comes in the first is felt in this one. Some pretty eerie scenes were added to make the viewer jump out of their seats with great graphics and animation. The movie is pretty good with a cast that knows how to pull off the eerie feelings plus they know how to set you up for the trick ending. You have to see this movie; I don’t want to give away the killer scenes. This movie sheds some light on the true origins of this powerful demon that has been referred to as the demon of wind. In all demon related movies that I have seen, they came up with the best origin for the demon.
