Review of Stardust (Widescreen Edition)
Young Tristan (played with wide-eyed vigor by Charlie Cox) vows to retrieve a fallen star for the most beautiful girl in the village, the shallow Victoria (Sienna Miller), and in his quest, finds his true love--in a true "meet-cute" moment (by Babylon-candle-speeding into the just-crashed human incarnation of the star, Claire Danes). Much of the film involves the duo's journey back home--though home for Tristan is his village, and home for the celestial Yvaine is, of course, in the heavens. There are villains, notably Michelle Pfeiffer as the vain witch who seeks the fountain of youth a fallen star can give, and the seven venal sons of the dying king of the mythical realm, backstabbing, grasping, and hilarious--even in death as a ghostly Greek chorus.
While the sparks of love between Tristan and Yvaine are resonant and touching, Stardust truly succeeds as a brilliant fantasy yarn--and as a comedy with more than its share of belly laughs. Much of the humor belongs to Robert De Niro, who plays a notoriously wicked air pirate, who is secretly a bit light in his swashbucklers. Ricky Gervais has a small but memorable role essentially channeling his character from Extras, including his catchphrase, "Are you having a laugh?!" The special effects are all that any fan of Gaiman would wish for. Catch a bit of Stardust and you'll feel enchanted for a good long while. --A.T. Hurley

Stardust review
Cute little fantasy story with big name stars. Robert De Niro is great in his role. Michelle Pfeiffer and Claire Danes fans will be equally thrilled with their performances. And last but not least - Peter O'toole plays a wonderfully devilish role with an awesome maniacal laugh. Worth watching for sure. If you remember Waking Ned Devine - David Kelly is endearing to his role in this story as well.

Stardust Shines
A wonderful cast and an excellent story. This film gave me a warm feeling while watching it which is unusual. I cared about the charatcers in the movie and loved the entire cast. The plot is fresh, entertaining and has that magical feel to it. Would love for more of this type movie to be made. If you're shopping to add to your dvd library this will be a great addition.

Fabulous!
It is such a shame on how they chose to promote this movie - focusing on Michelle Pfifer's part in the movie. She is not the reason to watch this. Because of the previews I did not want to watch this movie AT ALL. But the hubby wanted to see it. I started out grumpy, with my arms crossed, trying not to enjoy it, but man what a terrific movie. It's basically a fabulous romantic comedy with fantasy-type stuff. and Robert Deniro is great and funny too.

delightful comical fantasy
A beautiful fantasy love story between a fallen star and a young lad who happened into a world of magic to retrieve a jewel for a woman he thought he loved all for the wrong reasons. Together they defeat a wicked king and four wicked witches and an evil prince to win a place among the stars to live happily ever after. The writer (Gaiman) of this comical love story was fortunate to attract a cast of talented actors and actresses to play the roles of the characters.

Wonderful! Funny! Romantic! Bound to be a Classic!
Stardust, the movie, is based on a book by one of the most imaginative writers on the planet, Neil Gaiman. He is the author of the more recent book made into movie, Coraline and the Newbury Award-winning author of The Graveyard Book. He is clearly a writer to watch.
Not having read the book, Stardust, I can't say how closely the movie follows the book, but there is no doubt that this movie bears the imprint of Gaiman's marvelous imagination. The movie is wonderfully engaging and very, very funny. Robert DiNiro's pirate portrayal alone is worth the price of admission and at least equal to Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow in laugh-out-loud humor. (But be patient: the humorous aspect of DiNiro's pirate character builds slowly.) Michelle Pfieffer is also great in this movie.
My understanding is that this movie only did moderately well when it hit the theatres, but I predict that like Wizard of Oz or the more similar Princess Bride, this sleeper is going to be a word-of-mouth classic: "Have you ever seen...?" "You need to see..." "One of the funniest I've ever seen..." etc. This is a great movie, light-hearted, fun, suitable for adults, teens, and kids about 10 and up. Two thumbs up and two big toes up! Don't miss this.
