The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Info
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Review
Synopsis:As a string of mysterious killings grips Seattle, Bella, whose high school graduation is fast approaching, is forced to choose between her love for vampire Edward and her friendship with werewolf Jacob.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010) is a 2h 4-minute American romantic- fantasy adventure film that was based on the novel Eclipse (2007) written by Stephenie Meyer. It is the third installment of The Twilight Saga film series and grossed over $698 million at the box office with a $68 million budget. Director David Slade (Hard Candy (2005), 30 Days of Night (2007), Hannibal (2013-2015)) did an excellent job executing this love triangle film, but it could have been better. A lot of people argue that this movie should not be in the horror genre but in my opinion should be because it is, and that is because it contains death, war, werewolves, and vampires.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse revolves around a teenage love triangle with a human, werewolf, and vampire where the two supernatural beings are competing for the human/her/Bella’s attention in Seattle. Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard - Jurassic World (2015), The Help (2011), The Village (2004), 50/50 (2011)) wishes to vengeance on her lover’s murder caused by the Cullen’s and sets out to start an army of newborns. She bites Riley Biers (Xavier Samuel - Fury (2014), The Loved Ones (2009), Adore (2013)) to make him into a newborn which is many times stronger than older vampires during their first few months.
Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson - Twilight (2008), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Remember Me (2010), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012)) and Bella Swan are a couple. Edward tells Bella (Kristen Stewart - Twilight (2008), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012)) about the difficulties of being an immortal vampire. Bella does not want to get married so young, but Edward will only make her into a vampire after they are married.
Bella’s father Charlie Swan (Billy Burke - Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011)) is a police officer and is investigating the disappearance of Riley Biers. Edward thinks that Bella is not safe with Jacob (Taylor Lautner - The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011), Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 (2012), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)) and does not like her being around him. I was laughing out loud when Bella punches Jacob after he forcibly kissed her.
Alice (Ashley Greene - Twilight (2008), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011), The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)) had a vision that Riley will lead an army of newborn vampires within the week to attack Forks. The Cullens and Wolf Pack partnered up to train together so that they can fight the powerful newborns. Edward decides the safest place to hide Bella is on the top of a mountain which is freezing. Edward had to call shirtless Jacob into the tent to keep Bella warm because he did not have enough body heat to do so which makes an awkward situation. The movie progresses to giving an outstanding showdown between the newborns, wolves, and vampires.
The final battle between Edward and Victoria was good but not as good as other battles/action in the film. The acting in this movie was not so good from most of the actors except for Bella’s father Charlie (Billy Burke) who is the only one that can act. It is hard to feel the chemistry between the actors, but I still find it to be an intriguing love story/movie that I greatly love. I was amazed at how spectacular the CGI werewolves look - it looked so real, and the transformation could not have been better. The movie ends with a promise of a wedding leaving us, Twilight fans anticipating the next film. Eclipse is not a very horrific horror movie, but it has vampires and werewolves.
