Mansquito (2005) is an American Sci-Fi horror movie that is also known as Mosquitoman. Director Tibor Takács (The Gate (1987), Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996), I, Madman (1989), Spiders (2013)) did a horrible job. The movie had a good concept but was executed poorly. I would love to see a remake of this movie. The movie contains sexual content but nothing explicit, mild language, twists, mosquitos killing people, blood everywhere and dreary scenes that will make you want to fall asleep. It is ironic that the movie took place in Baltimore, Maryland and was filmed in Bulgaria.
Dr. Jennifer Allen (Musetta Vander - The Cell (2000), Wild Wild West (1999), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Kicking & Screaming (2005)) is desperate to find a cure for the Gillen virus. The Gillen virus is a disease similar to the Fire Rising virus, but the Gillen virus is more deadly. Jennifer and her colleague are experimenting on mosquitos they captured. They are giving the mosquitos small amounts of radiation because if they are given the wrong amounts then it will be more deadly than the virus itself. Ray Ericson (Matt Jordon - Freddy Got Fingered (2001), Osmosis Jones (2001), Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)) is a convicted criminal that will be helping Jennifer in the lab instead of serving his lifelong prison sentence.
Jennifer and Ray were exposed to the chemicals and genetically altered mosquitoes in the lab after a shootout. Ray fled the scene and gradually becomes a half man and half mosquito. In short, Jennifer and Ray are now mosquitos and innocent people are dying at a fast rate. Will the mosquitos be put down or will there be a cure for them? The movie was too slow paced for my taste, and I wanted to fall asleep many times while watching it but forced myself to stay awake for the entire dreadful movie. Nothing was good about this movie; even the actors did a bad job I gave this movie a two because it had a good concept, and I like the twists.
