Hansel & Gretel are bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world. As the fabled Blood Moon approaches, the siblings encounter a new form of evil that might hold a secret to their past.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is a movie that is on my watch again list. Adults and kids love this movie just alike. The movie is PG-13 but contains some adult themes. The actors and actresses did a phenomenal job with their parts. Director Tommy Wirkola (Kurt Josef Wagle and the Legend of the Fjord Witch, Dead Show, Kill Buljo, Remake) could not have done a better job. He is also the writer for this movie and several others that he has directed. I like Wirkola and will be looking forward to more movies from him. Hansel and Gretel contains, fairy tale like story, top notch makeup, awesome costumes, all time gore, mesmerizing, violence, humor/comedy, some adult humor, witchcraft, action, adventure, fast paced, suspenseful and more.

Hansel (Jeremy Renner - The Immigrant, The Bourne Legacy, The Avengers, Thor, The Town) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton - Byzantium, Tamara Drewe, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Clash of the Titans, St. Trinian’s) are siblings that are famous witch hunters who is summoned by the governor to find eleven children that went missing. I admire the brother/sister bond they have and how they protect each other although they are more than capable of taking care of themselves. With that said, they did get beaten by the witch and Hansel had new and old scars on his shirtless upper body in one of the scenes.

One of my favorite scenes is when Hansel and Gretel push the wicked witch into the oven - I was cheering with a big grin on my face. Muriel (Famke Janssen - The Wolverine, Taken 2, Down the Shore, The Chameleon) the wicked witch kidnapped 11 kids from a small village and kept them captive until the Blood Moon appears. Muriel planned to use to the children in a spell as an ingredient to make the witches protected against fire. Hansel and Gretel saved Mina (Pihla Viitala - Must Have Been Love, Red Sky, Elokuu, Bad Family) from being burned, she was accused of witchcraft and was sentenced by the sheriff.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters had great action scenes with the witch, Hansel and Gretel. It is a must see movie for open minded people who don’t expect too much storyline from a movie. If you like comedy and all that I mention above then this is a movie for you.

The CG effects was very imaginative and there was a whole lot of it but it doesn’t take away from the movie at all. The whole movie was very imaginative and did I mention, I am going to see it again and again and again. I do like that the movie wasn’t over 2 hours long but at the same time I would of liked to see more of it, maybe a part two.
