Synopsis:A teenager is stuck in a time loop that is not quite the same each time. She must uncover the truth but her actions have consequences for herself and others.
Haunter (2013) is a supernatural horror thriller movie that I will not see again although it was a good watch. It is one of those movies that you are interested in during the showing and then when it is finished, you say, okay now for the next one. Haunter contains violence, zero gore, suspense, jump scares, sitting on the edge of your seat moments and some frightening scenes. Director Vincenzo Natali did a good job on this movie, but not as good as other movies he directed, Cube, Splice and Ginger Snaps. The CGI effects could have been better as you can tell that CGI was used in some scenes, it did not seem natural.
The movie is about The Pale Man (Stephen McHattie - 300, Watchmen, The Fountain) killing young girls. He eventually dies and possess the body of Lisa’s father, Bruce (Peter Outerbridge - ReGenesis, Mission to Mars, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D). He makes the father kill his family and now the ghost of his daughter, Lisa Johnson (Abigail Breslin - Signs, Zombieland, Rango) is stuck in 1985, on the same day of her death which keeps on repeating itself. She was stuck with her family in the house they were murdered in and she is the only one that knows that they are repeating the same thing every day until the middle of the movie.
Olivia and her family are now residing in the house and will be the next victims. Olivia and Lisa made a connection through personal belongings and now Lisa is trying to help this family before it is too late. Olivia’s family is unaware of the dangerous atrocity they could face.
I found myself trying to guess what will happen next and most of the time I was wrong. I was trying to guess, what happened to the missing clothes in the laundry, what was hidden under the wooden floor and a lot of wondering about the hidden basement features. Will Lisa be able to save her family from living the same day over and over again? Will Lisa be able to save the new family from being murder? Will the new family’s father be possessed as well? What will happen to Lisa? If you want to know the answer to all these questions after reading my movie then watch the movie and let us know what you think.
Haunter is currently available on Netflix On-Demand streaming, check it out.
