Edge of Tomorrow Review

Synopsis:

A military officer is brought into an alien war against an extraterrestrial enemy who can reset the day and know the future. When this officer is enabled with the same power, he teams up with a Special Forces warrior to try and end the war.

I recommend this Sci-Fi action film for everyone to see. The trailer was poorly done and does not do justice for this incredible action packed, special effect movie. Edge of Tomorrow (2014) is based on Hiroshi Sikurazaka‘s novel "All You Need is Kill." Director Doug Liman (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Fair Game, Reckoning with Torture) did a marvelous job picking the cast for this movie. I am truly looking forward to more movies from Doug. Edge of Tomorrow contains brief nudity, extreme violence, gore, suspense, comedy and terrifying aliens. The screenplay was beautifully done by Christopher McQuarrie, Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. It was an astounding story about a world at war.

The movie is about an Army public relations officer that has to unlock the key to defeating an alien invasion. He stars in commercials that tries to recruit new people and has never been in combat. Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Minority Report, Top Gun) did a phenomenal job as Bill Cage. Bill’s commanding officer decides to put Bill out on the field by telling him to film with his camera crew on the front line of a ferocious battle. Bill dies and then wakes up, repeatedly dying and waking up every day. Bill learns that he is not the only one suffering this ailment and soon meets Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt - Looper, The Devil Wears Prada, The Adjustment Bureau). Rita and Bill teamed up to use his time travel that eventually saved him from Cassandra Complex and save the human race. Emily is presumed to be a tough soldier. Other soldiers call her “full metal bitch."

Beebe did an amazing job with the cinematography. I was both excited and thrilled to see Tom Cruise in this action movie. Tom Cruise performed his own stunts in this movie, and it was mind blowing. I kept on thinking during the movie, how were they able to walk with such huge armor on? I will watch this movie again.
