Open Windows Review
Synopsis:A jilted fan soon finds himself pulled into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse after he accepts the opportunity to spy on his favorite actress via his laptop.
Open Windows (2014) is a thriller action crime movie that has you on the edge of your seat. The movie was filmed in Spiderwood Studios, Austin, Texas, USA and Madrid, Spain. Director and co-writer Nacho Vigalondo (The ABCs of Death (2012), Timecrimes (2007), Extraterrestrial (2011)) did a good job balancing this movie between found footage and--
Open Windows is about young Nick Chambers (Elijah Wood - Green Street Hooligans (2005), The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), Maniac (2012), The Last Witch Hunter (2016)) who had just won an online contest for a date with someone he admires. The contest lets him meet bodacious Jill Goddard (Sasha Grey - Would You Rather (2012), Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge (2008), Saints Row: The Third (2011)) and have dinner with her. He is the head and website manager of Jill’s website fan page. A man, Chord (Neil Maskell - It’s All Gone Pete Tong (2004), Basic Instinct 2 (2006), Kill List (2011)) claiming to be from the contest contacted Nick the night before the event in his hotel room and informed him that the dinner with Jill is cancelled. The man told him links to gain access to hidden cameras so that he can see Jill’s every movement. The man later told him that he has to do certain things for him to keep having access to these links. Nick did not think that he will be doing the life-threatening things that he is doing. He also is so blinded by his affection for Jill that he constantly wants to see her on the cameras that he did not know that is being a part of an evil plan by the madman. Nick eventually realizes the morally horrifying things that Chord is doing, but he is in too deep to get out. Almost the whole movie is seen from Nick’s laptop screen. What happens next and how far will Nick go? Watch the movie and find out!!!!
Open Windows was an awesome movie to watch, and I recommend it to all types of fans. It makes me also wonder what can a person not do today with all the technologies floating around. One’s life is not personal as one might think. The cinematography was on point as well as the acting. The cast was fabulous and did a marvelous job with their parts. The setting could not have been better, and the special effects were great as well.
There is a lot of plot holes and goofs in this movie that does not add up.
- The email that Nick receives is formatted like our everyday spam emails - “PLEASE, CLICK HERE.” -
- The email states that Nick’s room is on the seventh floor but yet he can hear Jill talking from the sidewalk below - how loud does she have to talk for him to hear all the way up there?
- Chord is everywhere, hotel basement, on the street, city corners and is still maintaining connection with Nick - How?
- Nick has his laptop on the passenger seat driving around the city taking directions from Chord and using the map on the laptop.
-There are more but watch the movie - can’t spoil it all for you.
