Summer of Blood Review
Synopsis:Erik Sparrow is one of the lucky ones. He's got a good job. He's in a stable relationship. He lives in one of the greatest cities in the world...
Summer of Blood (2014) is an American comedy horror movie that was filmed in Brooklyn. NY and New York City, New York, USA. Director, producer, editor and writer Onur Tukel (Ding-a-ling-Less (2001), House of Pancakes (1997), Richard’s Wedding (2012)) did an excellent job bringing us this refreshing horror comedy. Onur did many jobs in this movie including playing the part of Erik Sparrow in this movie.
Summer Of Blood is a vampire comedy with actor Onur Tukel, who cannot stop talking for more than a second. The humor works well with the film and believes when I say that there is no shortage for comedy. Onur plays Erik Sparrow who is a man who apparently has it all and could not care less. He is obnoxious and irresponsible in the sense that he tries his best to avoid things that he has to do and especially anything regarding his future. One of the biggest things he refused to do is marry his long time girlfriend Jody (Anna Margaret Hollyman - Gayby (2012), White Reindeer (2013), Small, Beautifully Moving Parts (2011), The Den (2013)) who I guess he is responsible enough to keep. Well, I bet you guessed it - she ended their relationship after he absolutely refused to marry her. He tried dating other girls, but yearns for the love he had with Jody.
After a few events, Erik is now a vampire that looks at life differently or at least a little different. One of the scenes that I enjoyed is when he was having a bloody feast and merely having a conversation at the same time. The movie has some good relief humor that is much needed after all the low rating movies I recently encountered. I would recommend this movie to fellow vampire horror fans who love an okay comedy flick. The sets, actors, cinematography, music and lights were all done nicely. I gave this movie a six because it was worth my time to watch, and it did not disappoint me because my expectations were not on the high side. See this movie for a good few laughs without reading too much into the film.
