Mad Max: Fury Road Review

A woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in postapocalyptic Australia in search for her home-land with the help of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshipper, and a drifter named Max.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) is an Australian USA English science fiction thriller movie that was 2 hours long. Director and co-writer George Miller (Mad Max (1979), Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981), Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), Happy Feet (2006)) did an incredible job executing this movie. The movie had it’s good and bad but the good triumphs the bad. I could not believe that it took three writers to write the screenplay this movie.

Max (Tom Hardy - Inception (2010), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Warrior (2011), Lawless (2012)) is a police office that is running from the world. The world he lives in is a post-apocalyptic world/wasteland. Captain Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne - Mad Max (1979), Moby Dick (1998), Sleeping Beauty (2011)) is an evil man that is in charge of the water and oil supply The Captain and his gang who is known as the War Boys captured Max because they want his blood. The Captain has major plans for Max as he wants to turn Max into one of them by branding him. Furiosa (Charlize Theron - Prometheus (2012), Monster (2003), Hancock (2008), The Italian Job (2003)) and a few other fertile woman that is working for the Captain decides to escape. Furiosa and the females took a truck with about 3000 gallons of water or oil and drives to the desert. They plan to make a deal with the motorcycle riders in the desert. Upon escaping from the Captain’s gang, they decide to rescue/pick up Max so that he can help them escape the gang. Max helped the females get to a safe place although Max does not trust Furiosa, and she does not trust him. There are not many fertile females, and the Captain will do anything to get back his fertile females.

I gave this movie an eight because there was not much backstory to the characters, and the screenplay was cliches. The ending was not a surprise, and that did not earn a plus for me. I was overly thrilled with the cinematography as the locations were breathtaking at points, the vehicle and sets were excellent. I will watch this movie again and would recommend for all to watch. I love the costumes and makeup. This movie is worth watching in 3D or Imax.
