Dead Still Review

Upon the death of his great grandfather, Brandon Davis a wedding photographer inherits an antique camera famous for taking Victorian death photography. After photographing his subjects they start to die from horrible, bizarre deaths.

Dead Still (2014) is an American low budget horror movie that is 94 minutes long and was filmed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA. Director and writer Philip Adrian Booth (Death Tunnel (2005), Children of the Grave (2007), The Haunted Boy: The Secret Diary of the Exorcist (2010)) failed at executing his creation. The movie had potential, but it fell short on the plot holes and excessive loud rock music. The movie was not scary, and there was not much horror in the movie to scare the pants off of you.

Dead Still revolves around Brandon (Ben Browder - Farscape (1999), Stargate SG-1 (1997), Stargate: Continuum (2008), Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (2004)) who is a wedding photographer. Brandon’s grandfather passed away and left an antique camera for Brandon that he had used to photograph Victorian death portraits. Brandon regrets using the camera as death and destruction starts happening around him. Brandon is perfused as he figures out that all his subjects in his photographs end up shortly after dying in horrific ways and then appearing as death portraits. Brandon is on a mission to uncover the truth behind the cursed camera as his close friends and loved ones are dying. He soon discovers the camera also has supernatural powers after his 11-year-old son goes missing. Brandon has to do the unthinkable and try to get back his son who is now captured in the camera as a Dead Still.

Dead Still actors did a great job with convincing performances. However, the actors were not enough to carry the movie. The loud music became a nuisance after a few minutes - maybe because I am not a rock fan. The special effects wreak as it shows that much effort was not put into it. The set and premises is not much to talk about and nothing out of the ordinary. I will not watch this movie again and suggest you stay far away from it.
