The Wicked Within Review

After a year passes since the sudden death of a child, a family gathering takes place whilst peculiar unexplainable events occur.

The Wicked Within (2015) is an American horror film that turned out to be a disaster. Director Jay Alaimo (Slingshot (2005), Chlorine (2013), Pretzel (2001), Style Out There (2014)) was probably not in the right state of mind while shooting this movie because it was awful. I am a person that likes to see a film through to its ending regardless of how bad it is but I was so tempted numerous times to close my eyes and go to sleep because it is a piece of irredeemable trash. It was torture to watch undoubtedly the worst movie of 2015. The plot does not make sense and is complete nonsense with a slow place that made the movie incomprehensible. Forgot to mention the characters did not help the film as their performances were unbearable to watch and there was no action scene to relieve my agony while viewing The Wicked Within. Curious people like me might be enticed to see this film just to see how bad it really is but please do yourselves a favor and stay clear of this nonmemorable movie.

The Wicked Within displays the story of a family dinner where sisters Bethany/Beth (Sienna Guillory - Love Actually (2003), Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), Resident Evil: Retribution (2012), Eragon (2006)) and Hannah drinks their problems away, or so they wish. Beth and Hannah’s (Michele Hicks - Mulholland Drive (2001), Twin Falls Idaho (1999), The Shield (2002), Messengers (2004)) feels that she needs to put an end to all of the childish acts in her home. She plans on making everyone talk about their problems/infanticide. It did not take long for a demon to surface into their lives. The film goes on to showing that Hannah and her husband Michael (Enzo Cilenti - The Martian (2015), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), The Theory of Everything (2014), Next (2007)) is socializing for the first time after a year ago when they lost a child. Maggie (Sonja Kinski - Dark Hearts (2014), All God’s Children Can Dance (2008), Diamond on Vinyl (2013), A Beautiful Now (2015)) is friends with the family and has to sit through the whole ordeal. Everyone got drunk; Beth gets possessed and did demonic monologs for 30 minutes, but the movie does not get better, just worse. The family is a chaotic family as Michael wants to be intimate with Beth, Hannah has accidently killed their daughter, Beth is a little giving when it comes to her body, and her husband ran over a woman.

The family called in a psychic after Beth is possessed only to hear the psychic telling them that the entire house is haunted which lead to a séance which a voice pushes Hannah to tell the truth about her daughter’s death. With all said, stay clear of this movie because it will lead to nowhere good and will leave you having nightmares about why in the world did I just watch an entirely rubbish movie. The only reason I gave this movie a one is because I cannot give a zero on our grading scale.
