Synopsis:Nathan is an agoraphobic, living alone and keeping to himself. Until he meets his neighbour Izzy and something awakens, Something that is pure evil.
Hollower (2015) is a UK thriller horror movie that was more then I hope for it to be and is something that I might have the courage to watch one day again in the future. Director and writer Mj Dixon (Legacy of Thorn (2014), Slasher House (2012), End of the Line (2013)) did a lovely job executing his masterpiece which I think is one of his creepiest movies ever. Hollower is a slow paced creepy tone film where we were able to connect with most of the characters
Hollower revolves around Nathan Robbins (Adam Dillon) who is in a precinct being interrogated about a recent crime that he cannot remember. Nathan appears lost as he has no recollection as to why he is being questioned while being disoriented and confused. He, however, cooperated and answered whatever questions were thrown at him. Nathan slowly started to have recollections of his previous days leading us to learn that he has a debilitating illness. He can quickly collapse doing things that are ordinary to us. Nathan is agoraphobic where just thinking about opening and closing a door can make him collapse. We also learn that he became friends with Isabelle Carter (Becca Talulah - We Never Lose Our Loved Ones (2015), I’m with You (2015), Legacy of Thorn (2014)) who is his next door neighbor.
Their friendship flourished leading Nathan to be able to open his door without collapsing and letting her in which is a step up for him and a step back. Nathan’s mother passed away several years ago when he was young, but the images still haunt him. There is darkness growing inside of Nathan as he gets closer to Isabelle. It would have been nice if more background information was given about Isabelle so we could get to know her better and connect with her. We found out that she was in an abusive relationship which is good to know, but it is just not enough.
Hollower was an enjoyable, eerie, creepy and haunting flick that will keep you on your toes and questioning the film throughout and might even keep you up at night long after it is finished. I have been thinking about this movie and have had a hard time in the dark, yep; it spooked the crap out of me to the point where I feel as though someone is looking at me. Keep in mind that film is not for those who gets easily frightened because it will get underneath your skin and leave horror fans looking over their shoulder long after the movie is done.
