Critters 3 - You Are What They Eat Review
Synopsis:The tiny fur ball aliens that will eat anything or anyone set their sights on a Los Angeles apartment tower.
Critters 3: You Are What They Eat (1991) is an American comedy science fiction horror movie that is the third movie in the Critters series. Critters 3 and Critters 4 was shot back-to-back, and it does not take place in Grover’s Bend town like the two previous movies. Director Kristine Peterson (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989), A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989), Tremors (1990)) failed at executing this movie to its full potential. I was expecting this movie to be creepy and amazing because she has a lot of experience as an assistant director. The movie contains sexual references, not much violence, mild language and some frightening scenes for 8-year-olds and below.
Critters 3 continues from Critters 2. Critters 3 is about Clifford (John Calvin - Norma Rae (1979), The Paul Lynde Show (1972), Days of Our Lives (1965)) and his family stopping at a rest stop after their tire blew out. While getting their tire fixed, Charlie McFadden (Don Keith Opper - Critters 4 (1992), Slam Dance Slam Dance (1987), Critters (1986)) and his son warns Clifford of the Critters. Charlie is trying to find the surviving Critters. Clifford thinks nothing of it while unknowingly to him; the Critters lay eggs under his car. Clifford and his family arrived home with the Critters under their car, and mayhem happened. The Critters attacked their building maintenance personnel; Frank Longo (Geoffrey Blake - Frost/Nixon (2008), Apollo 13 (1995), Forrest Gump (1994)) and killed him. Charlie’s stepson Josh (Leonardo DiCaprio - Titanic (1997), The Departed (2006), Inception (2010)) accidently locks him in Clifford’s room not knowing that the Critters are in there. There is more to this movie, but all I will say is that it ends in a cliffhanger in order for fans to follow through and see Critters 4.
Critters 3 was not anything special to see, and I would not recommend this movie to anyone. The movie is flawed in many ways, and I am not quite sure why they keep adding more to the series. The graphics were terrible as well as the storyline. There was also plot holes, and the acting is poor.
