Ice Spiders (2007) is a science fiction horror movie that failed horribly. Director Tibor Takács (I, Madman (1989), Spiders (2013), The Gate (1987)) should stop making movies about enormous spiders. The movie is very boring and does not even interest my 12-year-old son who is into giant man-eating bugs.
Ice Spiders is about a mountain in Utah that is shared by a scientist doing experiments and ski resort. Dr. April Sommers (Vanessa A. Williams - Soul Food (2000), Candyman (1992), New Jack City (1991)) is working with other scientists on the restricted side of the mountain trying to create a new type of spider - not sure why one would want to do that. A group of teen skiers arrive at the ski resort that retired Olympic skier Dan "Dash" Dashiell (Patrick Muldoon - Stigmata (1999), Red Team (2000), Starship Troopers (1997)) works at. After a few events, Dr. Sommers found everyone in her lab dead except for one person that was cocooned in a spider nest. He warned Dr. Sommers about the spiders as a black widow attacks her, she locks herself in an office. She pulled an alarm to notify others in the office that is aware of her experiments.
Dash meets Ranger Rick at the lodge to help him find two missing hunters. They found the hunters truck and a mutilated Elk that they assumed a bear had attacked. Rick came out to help Dash and Ranger Rick finds himself in a cumbersome mess to save his life. They found the hunters but who will make it back to the lodge alive? Is the lodge safe? The movie was a waste of my time, and I do not get bored easily. I would not even recommend for anyone to watch this movie on a rainy day. The only thing I really like about this movie is the scenery of the white mountains. BTW Dr. Sommers finds out who sabotaged her experiments to make the spiders more intelligent and enormous. Stay clear of this bad horror movie.
