Blade: The Series Review

Blade: The Series (2006) is an American fantasy live action horror TV series that was more than I imagined it to be. I was delightfully treated to this astonishing series and wish there was more. It is based on the Marvel Comics character Blade and movie series. The series contains nudity, sexual scenes/references, extreme graphic violence, blood, drug use, gore, suspense, intense scenes and non-stop vampire action.

Blade: The Series is about Krista Starr (Jill Wagner - Wipeout (2008), Splinter (2008), Wolf Watch (2014)) looking for answers as to why her brother Zack (David Kopp - Freddy vs. Jason (2003), Romeo Must Die (2000), Josie and the Pussycats (2001)) mysteriously died. She found out that her brother was seeking eternal life by doing whatever the vampire/master told him to do and in reward, he would be granted the gift of eternal life. Krista found her answer but still was not satisfied and went in search of her Zack’s killer. She found her brother’s killer Marcus Van Sciver (Neil Jackson - Alexander (2004), Push (2009), You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010)) and Blade (Sticky Fingaz - Clockers (1995), Next Friday (2000), House of the Dead 2 (2005)) at the same time. Marcus is a powerful vampire and wants to be with Krista so he injects his blood into her. Blade soon after went after Krista and injects her with the serum that he uses to control his vampire cravings. Krista soon learns that Blade and her brother Jack was trying to take down Marcus when he was murdered. She joins Blade in a mission to bring down Marcus and his clan.

Krista works undercover with Blade by joining Marcus’ clan in an effort to learn their secrets and bring them down. Marcus tells everyone that he is trying to make a vaccine that will make them resistant to sunlight, garlic and silver. The series finale is truly spectacular as Blade eventually joins Marcus to unleash a virus named "Aurora Project". I recommend everyone to watch this series because I enjoyed it and will watch it again. This is by far one of the best vampire TV series ever made. The series was the most watched original series in history on Spike TV with 2.5 million viewers on the series premier. It was the number one TV show on cable but did not do a second season because of financial matters. Writer and producer Geoff Johns said "The network didn’t want to cancel it, I just think Spike TV is still a young network, and the price it was costing to make… they just weren’t able to do it."
