Top 10 Best Vampire Movies to Watch Now
10). Let Me In (2010)Our Score: 7/10 IMDB Score: 7.2/10
Let Me In is the US remake version of the popular foreign vampire film Let the Right One In. This is a very touching vampire movie that tries to both show the vicious nature of vampires and the need for some vampires to connect with humans to protect them. You really feel like this is a real vampire story being told which has been called "chillingly real" and "one of the best horror films of the year" by many critics. In small New Mexico, a lonely, bullied boy, Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee - The Road), forms a unique bond with his new…
9). Fright Night (2011)Our Score: 8/10 IMDB Score: 6.4/10
Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) is finally the cool kid in school and he now begins dissing his old friends who are still losers. His old friend Ed gets a hunch that something weird is happening in the neighborhood but Charlie gives him the cold shoulder so he wouldn't fall back into the losers crowd. Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in and everything just seems weird. Charlie witnesses Jerry involved in some unusual behavior and seems to be a vampire. Jerry begins feeding on the neighbors and it is up to Charlie to save the neighbors from the vampire. The remake of…
8). 30 Days of Night (2007)Our Score: 8/10 IMDB Score: 6.6/10
Josh Harnett (Black Dahlia, Pearl Harbor) crosses over to the dark side in this bone-chilling adaptation of the cult-hit graphic novel, brought to the screen in all its demonic glory 30 Days of Night. In a small Alaskan town, thirty days of night is a natural phenomenon. Very few outsiders visit, until a band of bloodthirsty, deathly pale vampires mark their arrival by savagely attacking sled dogs. But soon they find there are much more satisfying thirst-quenchers about: human beings. One by one, the townspeople succumb to a living nightmare, but a small group survives - at least for now.…
7). Fright Night (1985)Our Score: 8/10 IMDB Score: 7.1/10
Chris Sarandon (Jerry Dandrige) plays the scary vampire next door and what a performance. William Ragsdale (Charley Brewster) is the only one who knows the truth but his mom does not believe him. Fright Night is a true cult classic and justly deserved. Acting is well done and the story is funny but at the same time deep enough to keep the viewer interested. I grew up watching this horror movie and then to now, I still watch this vampire film very often.
6). Blade (1998)Our Score: 8/10 IMDB Score: 7.1/10
Blade is a great adaptation of a not so great comic book character Blade. Blade is set in a modern day city type where vampires are the "in crowd". There is only one being, half-vampire and half-human, that can stop one lunatic vampire, Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff), from destroying the world in his wake, that hero is Blade (Wesley Snipes). I love the opening sequence and that is my all time favorite opening as it shows what a badass Blade is. The only problem is that Blade starts really amped up but starts sloping downward in momentum towards the end. I…
5). From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)Our Score: 8/10 IMDB Score: 7.3/10
From Dusk Till Dawn deserves to be in the best vampire movies list because the second half of the horror film throws you into a mess of ancient vampires and the survivors must last through the night. Another reason, Salma Hayek delivers an extremely sexy dance scene in the film while holding a snake, every man knows this scene. George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino along with the rest of the cast deliver killer performances. The vampire costumes are done extremely well and are unique in many scenes. Of course Danny Trejo also makes an appearance as the bartender. From Dusk…
4). Nosferatu (1922)Our Score: 8/10 IMDB Score: 8.0/10
In Germany, real estate agent Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) is assigned to visit the castle of Count Orlok (Max Schreck) who is in the process of buying a house. While traveling to his destination Hutter learns some eerie folklore about the Count. Upon arriving at the castle, Hutter witnesses odd behaviors from the count and frightening scenes from his window. Who is Count Orlok? Nosferatu is based on Bram Stoker's Dracula. When director F.W. Murnau was not able to gain the rights to the novel itself, names and details were changed so he could make the movie. Nosferatu himself is…
3). The Lost Boys (1987)Our Score: 9/10 IMDB Score: 7.2/10
The Lost Boys is one of the greatest vampire movies ever made. Michael is caught up with Star who is part of the lost boys, the prettiest girl in his new home at Santa Carla, "The Murder Capital of the World", named for the many deaths that are unexplained but we all know are the work of vampires. Star is the love interest of the lost boys leader, David and he is not giving her up so easy. The lost boys try with all their power to turn Michael over to the dark side and embrace his newly found vampire…
2). Dracula (1992)Our Score: 9/10 IMDB Score: 7.5/10
Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of my favorite horror movies. Bram Stoker's Dracula vampire movie is about the sides of all of the characters and is beautifully done. Dracula (Gary Oldman) is pretty much straight from the book. Dracula is shown as not only a monster/villain but also as a grief stricken lover who was betrayed by his God. From the beginning of Dracula's reign from hell as a master vampire to his demise. Bram Stoker's Dracula is beautifully told and portrayed by each and everyone of the cast. We however see only one mention of the order of the…
1). Interview with the Vampire (1994)Our Score: 9/10 IMDB Score: 7.6/10
Interview with the Vampire is based on the famous Anne Rice vampire chronicles. I know many out there did not like the vampire film because it did not compare to the book, I liked it a lot. We had some great performances by Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and a young Kirsten Dunst. I enjoyed the depth of the characters and did not care for the extended Lestat de Lioncourt (Tom Cruise) backstory that deserved a full length film instead of the Queen of the Damned chop story. Brad Pitt played a very heartfull Louis de Pointe du Lac that you…
