Kiefer Sutherland revealed that he would be returning to play his character in the new Flatliners (2017) movie which is not a remake but in fact a sequel to the original Flatliners (1990) film. There is no confirmation that Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Billy Baldwin, and Oliver Platt will return to reprise their roles. Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, and Kiersey Clemens will star as the new cast members who are medical students stopping their hearts then reviving themselves after some time. They must then confront their past sins with paranormal consequences by journeying to the other side. Are you happy that the new Flatliners is now a sequel and that Kiefer Sutherland is reprising his original role?
Kiefer Sutherland said in recent interview via Metro UK:
I play a professor at the medical university. It is never stated but it will probably be very clearly understood that I’m the same character I was in the original Flatliners but that I have changed my name and I’ve done some things to move on from the experiments that we were doing in the original film. I loved making the first film and when I was asked if I would be interested in taking part in this, it didn’t take more than a minute to say yes.
