Kevin Bacons THE DARKNESS Blu-ray / Bonus Features Review

The Darkness (2016) Blu-ray comes home via Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and is directed by Greg McLean. Click here for the full review of the film. This review will cover the Blu-ray (DVD, Blu-ray, and VOD releasing on September 6, 2016) and bonus features.

The Darkness Blu-ray comes with special features including deleted scenes and an alternate ending with 9 minutes of footage.

Starting with the deleted scenes from the film, there were two good scenes that would have added more tension and scares to film overall. Both had Kevin Bacon performing them amazingly.

Next is the alternate ending that features an entirely different take on the end of the film. This ending is worth watching and is my preferred ending as it sets up another film, but I can see why it was ultimately cut. This ending is considered as the "dark ending" in my opinion and is a must see.

Overall the Blu-ray release has "better" visual quality and besides the great alternate ending and two mentioned deleted scenes, could have done with a few more bonus features. Perhaps a few behind the scenes featurettes or my personal favorite, audio commentary.
