Horror TV Shows Ending in 2017

  • Bates Motel (A&E)

    • A&E’s Bates Motel (Launched in 2013, 5 Seasons) is the Psycho (1960) prequel to detailing the incredible backstory of Norman Bates and his mother, Norma Bates. Alfred Hitchcock would be proud as the show did him justice in execution and acting performances.

  • The Vampire Diaries (CW)

    • CW’s The Vampire Diaries (Launched in 2009, 8 Seasons) started off with a show that I would watch for my wife, but after a few seasons finally picked up with a story that I could enjoy too. One of the pioneers of horror TV shows who merged vampires, werewolves, and witchcraft.

  • The Strain (FX)

    • FX’s The Strain (Launched in 2014, 4 Seasons) is based on the Guillermo del Toro graphic novels and also produced by him. Vicious vampires and an amazing story helped to flesh out this fantastic TV show. I wished the TV show followed more akin to the graphic novels, but that cannot always happen.

  • Teen Wolf (MTV)

    • MTV’s Teen Wolf (Launched in 2011, 6 Season) was another driving force in the horror genre when there were much fewer horror shows. Watching this show reminds me of the style that Buffy the Vampire Slayer had. Teen Wolf will come to an end in 2017 after 100 episodes, the longest running original series for MTV.

  • Salem (WGN)

    • WGN’s Salem (Launched in 2014, 3 Seasons) is a show that took me by surprise. I enjoyed watching this witch drama that deals with witch trials and witchcraft. A good TV series that will be missed, but Salem will hopefully end in a well-scripted way.
