In Stephen King‘s Christine (1983) film, John Carpenter took a directorial stab at this movie adaptation film leaving viewers with a killer car able to regenerate itself. A purely evil menacing and homicidal car is not easy to pull off and Carpenter did a good job coming right off of his masterpiece The Thing (1982). Top 10 Stephen King’s Christine (1983) Facts

  1. Stephen King determined that he wanted Christine to be a Plymouth Fury because it was a forgotten car.

  2. John Carpenter’s Christine (1983) went into production before Stephen King’s Christine book was published.

  3. John Carpenter insisted he wanted unknown actors in the movie because they were more relatable. Kevin Bacon, Scott Baio, and Brook Shield were considered, but Carpenter had his way.

  4. The studio wanted an R rating for Christine and Carpenter had to fight for that rating. The studio wanted the rating to draw in the teenagers.

Official Synopsis: In 1957, in Detroit, a red Plymouth Fury is built and is the cause of two accidents, one of them fatal, still in the assembly line. Twenty-one years later, the outcast and bullied nerd Arnold "Arnie" Cunningham is getting a ride with his best and only friend Dennis Guilder and he sees the wrecked car for sale in a garden. Arnie immediately falls in love with the car. The car was given the name Christine by its first owner. He brings the car to a repair shop of the despicable Will Darnell and works hard to restore the classic car. While he works in the restoration, he changes his personality to a cocky teenager and he dates the most beautiful girl in the high-school, Leigh Cabot. Soon Arnie becomes selfish and jealous of the supernatural Christine that kills everyone that is a threat to them.
