Tony Todd‘s Candyman (1992) is one of those horror icons that is not as popular as Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees but is still very well known. Candyman is like the male version of Bloody Mary whose victims is those unfortunate to say his name in the mirror five times. Candyman died in his life after being stung by bees and having his hand cut off, and a huge hook jammed into the bloody stump.   1. Candyman is based on a short story by horror author Clive Barker (best known for the Hellraiser movies).

  2. The opening scene of Candyman (1992) was a cinematic first where the opening credits are shown while the camera pans the streets of Chicago from overhead via a sky cam.

  3. Candyman takes heavy influences from works by William Shakespeare. "Sweets for the Sweet" is also taken from Shakespeare via Hamlet. "Grown to the Gullet" is taken from Macbeth.

  4. Comedian Eddie Murphy was considered to play Candyman.

Official Synopsis: Helen Lyle is a student who decides to write a thesis about local legends and myths. Of course, Helen doesn't believe all this stuff, but the people of the area are really afraid. When she ignores their warnings and begins her investigation in the places that he is rumored to appear, a series of horrible murders begins. Could the legend be true?
