Chad L. Coleman is an African-American actor that was born in Richmond, Virginia, USA. He grew up in a foster home in Richmond, Virginia. He had loved to participate in track and field until he had a leg injury and then turned his attention to studying drama. He served in the United States Army from 1985 to 1989 and as a video cameraman before becoming an actor.

Simpson in 2002 TNT's TV movie Monday Night Mayhem. He starred as ex-husband Gary Miller of Nikki Miller and father of Mackenzie in I Hate My Teenage Daughter (Fox TV) in 2011. He now stars as Tyreese Williams on AMC's The Walking Dead TV series.
His first acting experience on TV was in 1992 in Here and Now where he played Roland in the first episode. His first movie role was as Iceman in New York Cop (1993).
