  • Legend FX Artist Rick Baker to Retire

Legend FX Artist Rick Baker to Retire

FX legend Rick Baker just recently auctioned a great deal of props from his personal collection on a Prop Store auction. Rick Baker then went on to 88.9 KPCC to reveal that he is done with the movie business. This is mainly due to the drastic decrease in practical special effects as Baker points out, this is the perfect time to leave it all behind. Baker will not leave behind his passion as he will continue to paint, sculpt and do digital models as he does what he wants to do now. HellHorror.com says thank you for all your great work throughout the years Rick Baker and we cannot wait to see what you still have in store for us in the future. Baker did special effects for An American Werewolf in London (1981), Videodrome (1983), Planet of the Apes (2001) and Men in Black (1997) among many more.

  • Microsoft to Save Silent Hills IP From Konami!?

Microsoft to Save Silent Hills IP From Konami!?

Microsoft is making moves to purchase Silent Hills from Konami for an Xbox One exclusive. Microsoft is trying to close the deal officially before E3 2015 so they can make it a major reveal at the event. To make matters even better, Silent Hills is said to be about 80% done and may release as early as March 2016. If this is all true, it would be great to have Guillermo Del Toro and Hideo Kojima reunite once more to complete the final 20% of the game which I believe should only be in the polishing phase anyway at this point. Are you ready to see Norman Reedus in Silent Hills?

  • Cary Fukunaga Drops New Line Cinema's Stephen King's IT!?

Cary Fukunaga Drops New Line Cinema's Stephen King's IT!?

Stephen King‘s IT adaptation has hit a major snag with Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) leaving the director’s chair causing major delays in principal photography. It was reported that Fukunaga felt creatively compromised and with the filming starting in mid-June 2015, he jumped ship. The new IT movie has been delayed until further notice.  Warner Bros. subsidiary New Line Cinema wanted to cut the budget down to 1 movie and cut the budget down from a pre-approved $30 million. Ben Mendelsohn was also originally sought out to star as Pennywise the Clown but passed on the role because of a pay cut; this led to Will Poulter being sought next as Pennywise the Clown. Not too sure if Poulter will stick around also. We also included a tweet from Stephen King. Long live Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown!

  • George A. Romero's EMPIRE OF THE DEAD TV Series Confirmed!?

George A. Romero's EMPIRE OF THE DEAD TV Series Confirmed!?

George A. Romero‘s new comic book series Empire of the Dead will be the next big thing to turn into a horror TV adaptation. Empire of the Dead is an epic tale taking place in Manhattan, NY with both zombies and vampires. This comic series was a short 15 issues so this can be a mini-series or a great starting point for a longer TV series. In the last few years we have seen great things from Robert Kirkman‘s The Walking Dead TV series and Guillermo del Toro & Chuck Hogan‘s The Strain TV series. Graphic novels tell great stories most of the time and need very little tweaking to be converted to TV or the big screen. Marvel and DC Comics is doing this for the big screen with huge profits in the last few years too. Tell us how excited you are to see this new horror TV series.

  • New Friday the 13th No Longer a Found Footage Film

New Friday the 13th No Longer a Found Footage Film

Producer Brad Fuller announced that they decided to drop the found footage angle for the new Friday the 13th film. Found footage films have their own credits and uses but no one could imagine how that would work out for a Friday the 13th movie. I mean… how would Jason Voorhees look in a found footage setting? Write your comments and tell us what you think, good move right?

'28 Months Later' Update from Alex Garland - May 2015

Alex Garland has been busy promoting his new movie Ex Machina (2015) but has also decided to clue us in on what has been put into motion almost 2 years ago for 28 Months Later. I for one was really shocked to hear the comment. Andrew Macdonald produced both 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). Alex Garland wrote 28 Days Later… (2002) and executive produced 28 Weeks Later (2007). Read on for what Alex Garland had to say because I do not wan to spoil it for you nor do I want to change his statement. 28 Weeks Later (2007) ended with a very big cliff hanger… now we wait for 28 Months Later!

CW has officially passed on the reboot for Tales From the Darkside TV Series Reboot which was written and executive produced by Joe Hill (Horns (2013)), Stephen King‘s son… Ouch! Reasons why CW passed… CW did not like the anthology format and there was no showrunner for the TV series. It is not certain if we will see the reboot of Tales From the Darkside on another network or streaming service. Kris Lemche was set as the main star in the horror anthology TV series.

Too early to call it on my end but I cannot wait to see what develops. The It Reboot is currently in pre-production.

Syfy’s Helix TV Series has been cancelled from what seems like a huge decline in viewership. I still have to watch out the second season of Helix and will do so even though it is cancelled, the series had real promise. Tell us what you think of this cancellation, do you agree with it getting cancelled or do you think this was totally wrong?

Newman - a man with his own desperate, wrenching secrets - knows exactly what’s causing the terrifying Darkside Events that drive the series. What he doesn’t know is how to stop them.” Joe Hill (Horns (2014)) is writing and executive producing the new horror TV series. Other executive producers include Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Heather Kadin, Mitch Galin and Jerry Golod. Joe Hill is also Stephen King‘s son if that means anything in the form of even more expectations of greatness in the new TV series.

  • 'Independence Day 2' Sequel Casts Jeff Goldblum, Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth and Release Date

'Independence Day 2' Sequel Casts Jeff Goldblum, Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth and Release Date

So just like that, Independence Day 2 (2016) casts Jeff Goldblum, Jessie Usher and Liam Hemsworth for the Independence Day Sequel. Director Roland Emmerich seems to be setting the gears in motion fast trying to make the June 24, 2015 release date for Independence Day 2. This is the sequel to the Summer 1996 hit way back to Independence Day (1996). I have found memories of Will Smith punching the alien in the face… Smith was not mentioned in the casting to return however. Jessie Usher plays the son of Captain Steven Hiller (Will Smith), Liam Hemsworth is somehow related to President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) while Jeff Goldblum returns as David Levinson.
