The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016) is directed by Andre Ovredal (Trollhunter (2010), Tunnel (2016), Future Murder (2000)) which was acquired by IFC Midnight for a theatrical and VOD release this upcoming December 21, 2016. I watched the movie trailer and wanted more. The movie poster here leaves me wondering what is up with this girl while feeling a little underwhelmed. They need a new poster, and I want more from the next movie trailer. Either way, this film is a must-see for me. The cast seems like a solid pick with Emile Hirsch (The Girl Next Door (2004), The Darkest Hour (2011), Speed Racer (2008)), Brian Cox (Troy (2004), The Bourne Supremacy (2004)), and Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)).

From the Press Release:

IFC Midnight announced today that the company has acquired US rights to Andre ?vredal"s THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE from prolific independent entertainment studio IM Global, a subsidiary of Indian conglomerate Reliance ADA. The film, with a screenplay by Ian B. Goldberg and Richard Naing, stars Emile Hirsch (Lone Survivor, Milk, Into the Wild), Brian Cox (Troy, The Bourne Identity 1 & 2, Braveheart) and Ophelia Lovibond (Guardians of the Galaxy). The film was produced by Fred Berger, Eric Garcia, Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken of 42 and was executive produced by IM Global Founder and CEO Stuart Ford, Matt Jackson and Steven Squillante.

In THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, two coroners - a father and son - receive a mysterious homicide victim with no apparent cause of death. As they attempt to identify the beautiful young "Jane Doe," they discover increasingly bizarre clues that hold the key to her terrifying secrets.

Notes IFC Midnight: "Following the wit and creepy dread of Andre ?vredal"s award-winning TROLLHUNTER, we are very excited to bring his English-language debut to US audiences with a terrific Black List screenplay from Ian B. Goldberg and Richard Naing."

The deal for the film was negotiated with Ford and General Counsel Deborah Zipser at IM Global on behalf of the filmmakers with Arianna Bocco, SVP of Acquisitions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films, and Betsy Rodgers, Senior Vice President of Legal and Business Affairs for Sundance Selects/IFC Films.

Said Ford, "IFC Midnight is the perfect fit for Andre"s stylish, darkly humorous brand of horror and we"re looking forward to a robust theatrical release of the picture with them."

A father and son, both coroners, are pulled into a complex mystery while attempting to identify the body of a young woman, who was apparently harboring dark secrets.
