Atticus and Max are just ordinary teenagers who spend their days bickering over the little things while all around them the big thing is closing in.

Jack Fessenden declares "I"m not going to keep making horror movies" to horror director and father Larry Fessenden after completing RIDING SHOTGUN, a post-apocalyptic zombie film made in upstate New York that premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival.

The half-hour short film was directed, co-written, co-stars is edited and scored by the younger Fessenden when he was 13. Alex Hoffman co-stars and was co-writer. Father served as Director of Photography and plays the role of "the countryman" who comes to a tragic end at the hands of Owen Campbell before his star turn in last year"s Sundance feature AS YOU ARE.

RIDING SHOTGUN was followed by the non-horror shorts ALL FOR ONE, PRANKS and THE ADULTS which all feature various collaborators that eventually were involved in the debut feature STRAY BULLETS.

RIDING SHOTGUN features locations also seen in the feature, most notably Fabulous Furniture, a workshop and store populated by magnificent sculptures made of scrap metal, chrome and wood by the artist Steve Heller who appears as Richie in STRAY BULLETS.

RIDING SHOTGUN features an original score composed and performed by Jack Fessenden and his regular collaborators Asa Spurlock and brother Cyrus, who also perform on the score to STRAY BULLETS. Both brothers play zombies in the film as well. Asa Spurlock is the star of STRAY BULLETS.

RIDING SHOTGUN was shot on the Sony NEX VG20 with Zeiss Zoom Lenses and employed the debunked 20$ used Glass Eye Pix crane which Jack discovered in storage one afternoon and dragged back into commission. The film was shot in five days.

Zombie makeup was fashioned after the STAKE LAND vampire design by Brian Spears and was applied by Beck Underwood during the shoot and Spears himself on the final day with a dozen undead.

Alex Hoffman"s father played the zombie who nearly devours his kid in the final scene and Alex"s real mother is in the photographs.

Jack had been driving the family Subaru since he was 11 years old, he did his own driving, the stunt crash was handled by Hal Fessenden, Jack"s Uncle. The breakaway shed was built by father Fessenden.

At the Woodstock film Festival, RIDING SHOTGUN played in front of BIRTH OF THE LIVING DEAD, a documentary by Rob Kuhns and produced by Glass Eye Pix about George A. Romero"s timeless classic NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD.
