Jeepers Creepers 2 Review

Set a few days after the original, a championship basketball team's bus is attacked by The Creeper, the winged, flesh-eating terror, on the last day of his 23-day feeding frenzy.

Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003) is a 1h 44-min rated R American horror film that is a sequel to Jeepers Creepers (2001) and was shot in Tejon Ranch, California, USA and Long Beach, California, USA. Director and writer Victor Salva (Jeepers Creepers (2001), Powder (1995), Clownhouse (1989)) did an okay job executing his writing, but the movie had the potential to being something better if it had more originality to it with a solid screenplay. I wonder what we should expect in Jeepers Creepers III (2017) because I am not sure how much you can do with a sequel and still make it into something desirable to watch.

Jeepers Creepers 2 started off by stating “every 23 years he gets to eat for 23 days” leading us to know why the Creeper has such a big appetite. The Creepers can now blend in with scarecrows so that they can attack their victims. A child on a farm went to check his scarecrow poles and saw something strange hanging off of one of the poles which was the Creeper that took the boy away before his family could do anything/rescue him.

A school bus full of kids got a flat tire on the famous highway 9 which was caused by a strange looking star shape object. They fixed the tire and was ready to drive but then they got another flat tire which left them stranded. The Creeper did not take long to start taking his victims, but we were not told where the Creeper was taking the kids. The kids on the bus became troubled and began arguing with each other as they fend for their lives. The Creeper appears as though he was taunting the kids as he looked at them upside down, from the ceiling, from the side and other ways while pointing fingers at them.

Jeepers Creepers 2 lacks tension, originality, build up, and the bus scene was way too long and made the movie appear to be dragged on without a solid story. I gave this film a five because some of the shots were nicely done where it was incredibly creepy. Overall, the movie was a good watch but needed to be paid more attention to from the editor and writer/director.
