The Gravedancers - After Dark Horrorfest Plot Synopsis:

After the funeral of a old friend who died in a car accident, former school friends Harris, Kira, and Sid break into the local cemetery after dark, and after Sid reads a mysterious incantation he finds on one of the nearby tombstones, they dance on the graves. Soon, the three of them find themselves haunted by three different ghosts whose graves they desecrated. Harris and his wife Allison find themselves haunted by a deranged female pianist/ax murderer. Sid gets haunted by a child pyromaniac. And Kira haunted by a sad**tic rapist. All of them turn to a paranormal investigator named Vincent Cochet and his assistant Frances to try to help them break the curse they imposed on themselves before the next full moon when they will be killed by the ghosts' wrath.

The Gravedancers - After Dark Horrorfest (2006) Review

The Gravedancers (2006) is an American horror movie that is 95 minutes and was filmed in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. Mike Mendez (Tales of Halloween (2015), Big a** Spider! (2013), Masters of Horror (2002)) did not excel at directing this movie because it failed in so many ways. The actors did a terrible job with their performances, and the weak cheesy dialog did not help the cast to do a better job. I did not feel attached to any of the characters or felt any concern for them, I was mostly rooting for a few to disappear. The storyline was a bit boring and was a cliche because it has been done so many times with better results. The special effects did not help the movie either as it was poorly done. The tornado swirling skull was a plus in the film for me because it was a comedy relief moment that I knew it was not intended to be. Another disappointment was that the ghost was scary looking, but they did not receive much screen time. The soundtrack was good and needs to be recognized as well as Vincent’s headquarters and laboratory for the paranormal. Overall, watch the movie at your risk because it was not my cup of tea but may be yours.

An unidentified young woman, alone in a room, is attacked by an invisible assailant, who hangs her in the stairway of her house. As she dies, she drops an ornate black envelope.
The Gravedancers started by showing us how a college female died about one year ago which leads to what happens throughout the movie. College friends Sid (Marcus Thomas - You Kill Me (2007), Drowning Mona (2000), Bigger Than the Sky (2005)), Kira, and Harris decide to go out drinking after attending a funeral. The trio trespassed into the Crescent View Cemetery because they wanted to say a final goodbye. Sid found a black envelope behind some flowers at the grave that tells them to be happy and to dance on the grave which the wasted trio did. The trio soon started experiencing mysterious supernatural things happening to them and their loved ones. Harris (Dominic Purcell - Prison Break (2005), Equilibrium (2002), Blade: Trinity (2004), Mission: Impossible II (2000)) and his wife Allison start having visions and hearing strange, unusual sounds. A demonic force sexually attacks Kira (Josie Maran - Van Helsing (2004), The Aviator (2004), Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)), bites her and ransacked her home. Sid experienced unexpected fires that resulted in the trio to hire paranormal investigators, Vincent Cochet and Frances Culpepper. Vincent Cochet (Tcheky Karyo - Bad Boys (1995), The Patriot (2000), GoldenEye (1995), Kiss of the Dragon (2001)) and Frances told the trio that they invoked a strong, powerful curse when they danced on the graves. They were told that three spirits will kill them on the next full moon because the spirits were an axe murderer, a rapist serial killer, and child pyromaniac.
