The Prophecy 3: The Ascent Plot Synopsis:

The conclusion to The Prophecy Trilogy. Once again, Christopher Walken returns as the Arch-Angel Gabriel. As the War in Heaven and on Earth rages on, Pyriel, the Angel of Genocide, rises to power, intending to destroy all of mankind. The only one who stands in his way is Danyael, who was born of an Angel and a woman, but Danyael is unaware of his purpose, until he runs into Gabriel, who has now become a human after the events of The Prophecy 2, and is acting as his secret guardian. Now, the fate of the world hangs in the balance as Danyael sets out to confront Pyriel and finally fulfill his destiny.

The Prophecy 3: The Ascent (2000) Review

The Prophecy 3: The Ascent (2000) is a rated R 1h 24 min American fantasy horror-thriller film that is the third installment in The Prophecy series. Director Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine (2009), Drive Angry (2011)) did not give us anything new in this segment except for it being less darker than the previous installment and it running at a faster pace. Lussier has talent, but it was displayed in the wrong movie as his flashy techniques were quite a distraction in this film.

Christopher Walken reprises his role as the Arch-Angel Gabriel but is now a human after the events that took place in the previous installment resulting in the Angel of Genocide wishing to destroy all of the humankind. Danyael (Dave Buzzotta) is an Angel and a woman that can stop the Angel of Genocide, but she does not know his plans until she meets Gabriel. Will Danyael be able to prevent the extinction of humans in time?

There was several monotonous flashbacks or visions which were confusing and boring for my friends and me. I was not happy seeing Gabriel (Christopher Walken) switching over to the good side so that he can be cast in a supporting role. It was always a pleasure to watch Gabriel, even in this segment/installment as he drives along a desert highway. I do not like Vincent Spano playing the new bad guy, Zophael and think he did not do a good as a job playing the role as Christopher Walken in the previous two movies.

The continuation from sequel to sequel as a nice added touch as fans can have a movie marathon without skipping a beat. All of the actors gave us below average to good performances. With all said, the movie was good, but I do not think the film is for everyone and only The Prophecy die-hard fans might enjoy this series/movie.
