Friday the 13th - The Final Chapter (1984) Review

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) is an American slasher thriller horror movie that is also known as Friday the 13th Part IV. It is a coincidence that this is the fourth movie of Friday the 13th series and is the fourth movie for director Joseph Zito (Missing in Action (1984), Red Scorpion (1988), The Prowler (1981)) to direct. Joseph did a good job on this movie, and I had expected him to direct more movies, but he just directed five movies after The Final Chapter. The movie contains nudity, sexual content, brutal violence, gore, suspense, bad language, intense dark atmosphere, drug use and frightening scenes.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter continues from the previous installment in its series. As the paramedics are busy cleaning all the monstrous mess that Jason Voorhees made, he awakens in a morgue to continue his reign of terror on people. He killed the nurse with a scalpel and used a hacksaw on a doctor at the morgue. Jason is on his way to Crystal Lake, and so is a group of teenagers. Paul (Clyde Hayes - The Last Producer (2000), Neon Maniacs (1986), The Gingerbread Man (1998)), Samantha, Jimmy Mortimer (Crispin Glover), Ted (Lawrence Monoson), Doug (Peter Barton) and Sara (Barbara Howard) saw Jason’s tombstone. After a few events, the group of friends met twins Tina (Camilla More - The Dark Side of the Moon (1990), The Twin (1984), General Hospital (1963)) and Terri (Carey More - Once Bitten (1985), The Twin (1984), Calendar Girl Murders (1984)) and they all went skinny dipping together. Paul’s girlfriend Samantha (Judie Aronson - Weird Science (1985), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), Hannibal (2001)) got jealous upon seeing Tina flirting with Paul and left. Jason stabbed Samantha in her chest while she was on a raft in the water. Paul notices that his girlfriend is not around and went to find her and Jason strikes him in the groin with a harpoon.

Wondering what happens next - watch the movie!!! Does Jason survive this chapter? What happens to all of the friends? Who will survive and who will die?

I would recommend horror and gore fans to watch The Final Chapter. There are two endings to this movie - one ending is on the 2009 Friday the 13: The Final Chapter Deluxe Edition DVD and the other is the original ending. This movie is neck to neck with the other movies in its series although the acting was not on par with this movie. The special effects were amazing as well as the sets and screenplay. The movie needs better actors. A little boy, Tommy (Corey Feldman - The Goonies (1985), Gremlins (1984), The Lost Boys (1987)) will amaze you at the end of the movie. You cannot possibly miss him because he plays a big role in the end.
