Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1996)
Tremors 2: Aftershocks Plot Synopsis:When an army of Graboids - giant, carnivorous underground worms - threaten the Petromaya oil refinery in Mexico, its owners call on Earl Bassett, who once helped kill four of the creatures in Perfection, Nevada. Having squandered the money that came from his resulting celebrity status, Earl is convinced by the $50,000-a-head bounty offered, as well as the enthusiasm of admirer Grady Hoover, who becomes his partner. At Petromaya, Earl and Grady meet geologist Kate Reilly, and begin Graboid hunting, tricking several Graboids into swallowing bomb-rigged, remote-controlled cars. When they find they're facing a lot more Graboids than they ever expected, Earl calls his friend Burt Gummer, a survivalist who arrives well-stocked with weapons.
Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1996) Review
Tremors II: Aftershocks (1996) is an American action comedy horror movie that is a sequel to Tremors (1990). Director and co-writer S.S. Wilson (Tremors (1990), Wild Wild West (1999), Heart and Souls (1993)) did a great job directing this movie but Tremors (1990) excels this one. Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) returns in this movie, and he is hired to take care of a subterranean Graboid infestation in the Mexican oilfield.
Tremors II takes place several years after Tremors (1990). Val is now married to Rhonda and does not live at the same place. Earl (Fred Ward - Tremors (1990), The Player (1992), The Right Stuff (1983), Escape from Alcatraz (1979)) wasted all of his money on a ostrich ranch that did not make him money. Carlos Ortega (Marcelo Tubert - G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), Over the Hedge (2006), The Young and the Restless (1973)) told Earl about Graboids at his oil field in Sonora, Mexico that are killing his workers. Earl did not want to help but was easily convinced by Carlos’ taxi driver Grady Hoover (Chris Gartin - Black Swan (2010), Transcendence (2014), Flightplan (2005)) to join the team. Earl and Grady use explosives to kill the Graboids.
Earl knew he could not handled all of the Graboids so he called in Burt Gummer (Michael Gross - Family Ties (1982), Tremors (1990), Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001), Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004)) to help him. Earl found a sick Graboid and discovered that something is attacking the Graboids upon its death. The battle now began between the Graboids and humans. Who will win and who will suffer the fate of death? It was an interesting movie to watch, and I would have a Tremors marathon one day before seeing Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015). My Tremors marathon would include Tremors (1990), Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1996), Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001) and Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004).
The movie was filled with noisy action scenes capturing my attention. The actors all did an incredible job with their roles, but I would have loved to see more actors returning for this movie. There was about eight people that are worth mentioning in this movie - small cast indeed. The special effects were near perfect as well as the sound/music. I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves a good laugh along with suspense, horror and ugly worm-like creatures attacking the human race.
