Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn Review

The lone survivor of an onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack.

Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn (1987) AKA Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (1987), is a complete re-vamp to The Evil Dead with added comedy. Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn looks a lot better than The Evil Dead (1981) and has some hilarious shots of Ash’s ( Bruce Campbell) insanity. We are talking self-mutilations and demon possessions in the woods, a funny yet scary movie.

Ash (Bruce Campbell) continues his struggle with the forces of the dead. Ash’s girlfriend (Denise Bixler) becomes possessed by demons and through some crazy camera effects becomes both incredibly funny in movement and scary in appearance. I liked the way The Evil Dead 2 became a comedy horror with Ash going totally insane so many times throughout the movie; it was hilarious. I do not think anyone could have pulled off this role better. I also like the way the camera goes zooming through the woods and the creepy sound effects that follow, really sets the atmosphere and mood of the horror film.

This movie has become a real horror classic to me and many other fans, and I religiously watch The Evil Dead 2 every couple years for some laughs. I have to admit; I like this installment way better than the original The Evil Dead (1981) film. A definite must see for everyone, and many will agree that you can watch this horror movie over and over, and it does not get lame.
