House of the Dead (2003) Review
Uwe Boll‘s House of the Dead (2003) won the worst film award at the Fangoria Chainsaw Awards 2004. House of the Dead had an estimated movie budget of $7 million and grossed $10.2 million at the US box office.
House of the Dead has an ambitious role by trying to tell the prequel story for the House of the Dead video games. College coeds throw a techno rave party on a mysterious island. The group ends up getting attacked by zombies and monsters.
House if the Dead is what you get when you take a high paced action horror shooter game franchise and make a not so good movie script. A pretty good cast considering the budget and director, but it wasn’t working in this movie. The story was okay, but I didn’t take to it. The story leaves a lot to be desired because it ends up being a loose mess to link the action scenes together. House of the Dead had some decent scenes, but it wasn’t enough for the success of the overall movie. Nevertheless, we did get another try at this video game movie adaptation in House of the Dead 2 (2005).
