Van Helsing: The London Assignment (2004) Review

Van Helsing: The London Assignment (2004) is an American 30-minute short action animation that is the prequel that tells the events before the Van Helsing (2004) film that was released later that year. First-time director Sharon Bridgeman did a great job executing her first short film that was a terrific buildup to the 2004 Van Helsing full-length movie. The short contains suspense, graphic violence, good sequences including the undead beefeaters, mad scientist, murders, supernatural hunter, Jekyll and Hyde, vampire slayer, monster, crossbow.

The London Assignment revolves around monster hunters Gabriel Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman - The Prestige (2006), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men (2000)) and Carl. Carl (David Wenham - 300 (2006), The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003), Van Helsing (2004)) and Gabriel went to London to investigate numerous horrific supernatural murders. Dr. Jekyll is a mad scientist and his evil alter-ego, Mr. Hyde is the one committing the evil killings. The duo discovered that Dr. Jekyll is in love with the Queen and he gives her a potion that turns her into a young woman for one night so that she can remain immortal and young.

There is only one deadly way that Dr. Jekyll uses to create the potion for his love meaning that the killing will never end. What will Gabriel do to stop the murders and what will be the end result? With all said, the short is not bad or good but just average and is a good short flick to waste a few minutes if you do not read too much into it. I would not see again, but I am not against recommending it either. I gave this movie a score of a five because of the violence, suspense, acting/voice, and dialogue.
