Highlander 2: The Quickening Review

Synopsis:

In the future, Highlander Connor MacLeod must prevent the destruction of Earth under an anti-ozone shield.

Russell Mulcahy directed Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) had an estimated $30 million movie budget. However, it grossed $15.5 million at the US box office. Christopher Lambert as Highlander Connor MacLeod returned for the sequel along with Sean Connery another Highlander named Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez.

Highlander II: The Quickening focuses once again on Connor MacLeod, but this sequel fast forwards us into the future in the year of 2024. In this future, the ozone layer around the Earth has deteriorated, and MacLeod helped in the construction of a giant "shield" to protect people from dying. MacLeod lost his immortality after defeating the last Highlander in Highlander (1986). He is now an old man until new Immortals come to Earth, MacLeod is again rejuvenated to do battle.

Highlander II: The Quickening is a bit cheesy, and the acting could have been better. The style is there, but the film lacked the finesse and polish it deserved. This Highlander movie is the start of a terrible spiral as the Highlander franchise never picks up or improves on the first film.

Shame, I am hoping for some Highlander reboot in the future.
