Zombie Diaries 2 Review
Synopsis:Three months have passed since a viral outbreak wiped out 99.9% of the world's population, turning its victims into flesh-eating living dead...
Zombie Diaries 2 (2011) is a 1h 28- min rated R British science-fiction action horror film that is a sequel to The Zombie Diaries (2006) and was shot in several locations in England, UK. Directors Michael G. Bartlett (The Zombie Diaries (2006), Treehouse (2014)) and Kevin Gates (The Zombie Diaries (2006), Tales from the Graveyard: The Clophill Archives (2013)) failed upon executing this film. Kevin Gates wrote the weak screenplay and co-directed Zombie Diaries 2. The movie contains sexually graphic content, violence, gore, bad language, and few frightening scenes.
Military photographer, Jonesy (Rob Oldfield - Grantchester (2016), Kochadaiiyaan (2014), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I (2010)) and his team are trying their best to survive the zombie apocalypse by staying in a remote beachside compound. Jonesy found archive the birthday footage of a family celebrating their daughter’s birthday while trying their best to pretend their lives are normal although their only light sources are the video camera and candles.
Jonesy took in the last survivor, Leanne (Alix Wilton Regan - The Isle (2016), Dragon Age: Inquisition - Trespasser (2015), The Amazing World of Gumball (2011-2015), Mass Effect 3 (2012)) from the previous movie. He also took in some other people who are both infected and healthy and tries to make the best of it as long as possible or until the zombies finally got into their safe heaven and all hell breaks loose. Leanne, Jones, and a few soldiers escape alive and found a cabin that they stayed for the night but had no choice but to flee not too long after. Will the group survive the zombies or the humans that are out theirs?
Zombie Diaries was not a pleasant experience and is something that I would not recommend to my fellow zombie fans as it was a disaster film that was all over the place. The script and direction are to be blamed for this movie falling under. The cast gave us decent performances but sadly it was not enough to save the movie from being a somewhat decent watch. I kept looking at the time throughout the film and kept thinking - what in the world did I get myself into this time again? There was no improvement on the mistakes the previous movies made.
The make-up job was insufficient, and the zombies were non-threatening leaving the film to have mostly non-existent scares. The DVD cover was extremely misleading with its artwork as there was no humongous ruined cityscape except for an old barn which was not ruined. I felt as though the rape scenes were not needed and the movie was an utter waste of my time and other zombie fans.
