BloodRayne (2005) Review
Uwe Boll created his movie adaptation of BloodRayne (2005) based on the popular game franchise. This vampire film had an estimated $25 million movie budget to take in only $2.4 million at the US box office. If that is not bad enough, between the Razzie Awards and The Stinkers Bad Movie Awards, BloodRayne won 4 of these awards and was nominated for 11 more. BloodRayne was a bomb. BloodRayne stars an incredible all star cast including Kristanna Loken, Ben Kingsley, Michelle Rodriquez, Billy Zane, Michael Madsen, and Meat Loaf but the cast is not everything.
BloodRayne takes us back to the 18th century. Rayne (Kristanna Loken) escapes from the freak show to join a group of vampire slayers. Her motive is to slay the vampire who violated her mother and made her, the outcome of that union.
BloodRayne action scenes and special effects could not save the film. The screenplay written by Guinevere Turner was bashed along with Uwe Boll as the director, and they both took most of the criticism as the main cause of the films terrible rating. Under these circumstances, the cast of talented actors ended up with below than average performances.
