Wolf Creek 2 Review

The outback once more becomes a place of horror as another unwitting tourist becomes the prey for crazed, serial-killing pig-hunter Mick Taylor.

Wolf Creek 2 (2013) is an Australian horror movie, director and writer Greg Mclean (Rogue, ICQ, 6 Miranda Drive) did a better job executing Wolf Creek 2 than 2005 Wolf Creek. Greg failed at introducing us to the characters and therefore I felt no connection towards them. This movie is full of gory scenes that make people with a weak stomach wince and squirm. There is way more blood in this movie than the last. More blood is not always better, but it was just the right amount for this movie. Wolf Creek 2 contains sexual content/gesture, violence, extreme gore, bad language, drug use, twist, suspense, decapitation. I admired the Australian sceneries in this movie and I might just watch it again for the sceneries.

Mick Taylor (John Jarratt - Observance, StalkHer, 100 Bloody Acres) appears to hate backpackers and targets them for his thrilling gruesome kills. His first kill in this movie was of two police officers that wrongfully pull him over for speeding when he was not. The police officers messed with the wrong person and paid dearly with their life and car being torched. Mick continues to do his usual hobby from the 2005 Wolf Creek movie. He saw a young German couple, Rutger Enqvist (Philippe Klaus - Ruby, In Transit, Mercy) and Katarina Schmidt (Shannon Ashlyn - Inside, The Road Home, Reset) camping in the national park and warn them that they might get in trouble with the authorities. He offered to help them by giving them a lift, but they refused. He has a short temper, so he decapitated Rutger and Katarina fainted. She woke up to witness Rutgers body being cut up into pieces by Mick.

Katarina tries to run away, but Mick runs after her. Paul Hammersmith (Ryan Corr - Where the Wild Things Are, Packed to the Rafters, Not Suitable for Children) was driving by and picked up Katarina after seeing her stressed and stranded. Mick pursues them in his truck and shoots Katarina in Paul’s car. The story began here for me and kept me on the edge of my seat. I prefer this movie over the first Wolf Creek.

Hint: After a long pursuit and two more innocent individual being murdered by Mick, Paul is finally caught by Mick. After his capture, there is a long torturing amazing battle and Paul finally is free from Mick. Is Paul leading a normal life again? Is he hurt? Is he disabled? What happened to Mick? Is Mick or Paul in Jail? Watch the movie and see.

John Jarrat did an excellent job playing a psycho crazed killer - his part was unremarkably believable.
