Legion Review

When a group of strangers at a dusty roadside diner come under attack by demonic forces, their only chance for survival lies with an archangel named Michael, who informs a pregnant waitress that her unborn child is humanity's last hope.

Legion (2010) is a supernatural American action film about the apocalypse. Scott Stewart (Dark Skies, Priest) is the director and co-writer of this movie that had a great deal of potential if there was fewer plot holes. I think a longer run time would have helped the movie to flow better. Legion was a nice movie to watch on a rainy night with an okay story line. It was a slowly paced movie at times with a lot of plot holes, so I had to really pay attention. I had so many questions when the movie was finished. Legion contains violence, frightening intense scenes, bad language and suspense.

Charlie (Adrianne Palicki - G.I. Joe: Retaliation) is a pregnant waitress working at a diner and does not know where her baby father is. An elderly woman Gladys Foster (Jeanette Miller - The Truman Show, Norbit, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) enters the diner with a walker appearing to be fragile/weak. She orders a rare steak, and while eating it, we see a lot of fly on it and she did not mind. She then told the waitress that her unborn child will burn and made harsh remarks to other customers in the diner. Howard Anderson (Jon Tenney - Beverly Hills Cop III, The Closer, You Can Count on Me) approached Gladys and told her it is not nice saying what she is saying to other people. Gladys took a bite of Howard’s neck and rapidly climbed up the wall and ceiling. Kyle Williams (Tyrese Gibson - Transformer, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) shot and killed Gladys right before she was about to attack Jeep. Kyle and the others in the diner attempted to drive Howard to the doctor but had to return to the diner because of a massive swarm of flies.

Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany - A Beautiful Mind, The Avengers, Iron Man) cut off his wings and disobeyed orders from his superior (God) in order to save the life of an unborn baby. Michael stole a police officer car and drove to Paradise Falls Diner at the Mojave Desert to help fight the battle against bad-angel possessed people. The possessed people are all the people that lost faith in God/Life. Michael gave weapons to the people at the diner and helped them prepare for a battle of their lifetime.

The CGI effects were not all that great. The angels falling from the sky lacked visual effects. I gave this movie a five because I like the message that it has for its viewers. It kept me entertained, and Paul Bettany did an impressive acting job. Always have faith in God, even when you think God is not listening - never give hope and strive for better.
