John Wick (2014) is an American action thriller movie that was filmed in Mill Neck, Long Island, New York, USA and in New York City, New York, USA. Directors Chad Stahelsk (300 (2006), The Matrix (1999), V for Vendetta (2005), The Hunger Games (2012)) and David Leitch (V for Vendetta (2005), Fight Club (1999), 300 (2006), Troy (2004)) who is uncredited did a wonderful job executing this action flick. The movie contains violence, bad language, action, thrills, suspense, sitting on the edge of the seat moments and brief drug use.
John Wick (Keanu Reeves - The Matrix (1999), Speed (1994), Devil’s Advocate (1997), Constantine (2005)) was happy with his wife for five years until he lost his wife Helen (Bridget Moynahan - I, Robot (2004), Lord of War (2005), Blue Bloods (2010), The Recruit (2003)) to cancer. Helen knew that she was going to die and bought a dog and wrote a letter to John that will be delivered to him after her passing. He did not like the dog at first but eventually started bonding with him. He was driving around with his dog when he encountered a Russian gang at a gas station. The head gang member, Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen - Atonement (2007), Game of Thrones (2011), The Other Boleyn Girl (2008)) insisted on purchasing John’s car that is obviously not for sale. The gang followed John home without him knowing after he refuses to sell his car that was not for sale. The gang broke into his house to beat him and killed his dog and then Iosef stole his car. John was a hitman and retired after Helen. He is now returning to seek vengeance for his dog and car.
After a few events, John discovers that Iosef is the son of his former Russian mob boss. Iosef is also getting to know who John is and found out he was known as Baba Yaga/the Boogeyman. Viggo (Michael Nyqvist - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009), Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011), The Girl Who Played with Fire (2009), The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest (2009)) tried to talk John out of killing his son Iosef. The movie took a turn when John refuses, and a series of events followed including Viggo offering a $2 million bounty on John and hires John’s mentor to execute him. A few more events pass and the bounty is now $4 million. Imagine John is hiding out in a hotel that is catered to assassins and no crime cannot be committed in the hotel. John soon learns where Iosef is currently at and… Watch the movie to see what happens next and if John gets to avenge his dog’s death.
This is one of the best action thriller movies I have seen in a long time and will definitely watch it again when I can. Everything about this film was awesome. I gave it a nine because it could have been a little bit better. I was in awww throughout the entire movie, and my mouth might have been dropped open a few times. The actors all did a phenomenal job with their parts. The cinematography, lights, sets, music and screenplay were executed perfectly.
