The Woman in Black 2 Angel of Death Review

40 years after the first haunting at Eel Marsh House, a group of children evacuated from WWII London arrive, awakening the house's darkest inhabitant.

The Woman in Black 2 Angel of Death (2014) is a British drama thriller horror film that is also known as The Woman in Black: Angel of Death (2014). It did better than its sequel, The Woman in Black (2012). Director Tom Harper (The Scouting Book for Boys (2009), Cubs (2006), The Borrowers (2011)) did an amazing job directing this movie with an amazing storyline. The movie was scary with lots of style and carries a different atmosphere from the first movie. The movie contains eeriness, creepy jump out of your seat scenes, frightening intense scenes and a whole lot of dark shadowy scary scenes.

The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death takes place 40 years after Arthur Kipps ( Daniel Radcliffe - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)) had awakened the mysterious darkness at the Eel Marsh House in The Woman in Black. World War II has started, disaster and death is everywhere. Eve Parkins (Phoebe Fox - One Day (2011), A Poet in New York (2014), Switch (2012)) is a school teacher to young kids. Eve and headmistress Jean Hogg (Helen McCrory - Skyfall (2012), Hugo (2011), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011)) take it upon themselves to save the children from the school. They were on their way to a shelter when they got stranded and had no choice but to go to the Eel Marsh House. One heart wrenching moment for me in this movie was when some of the kids decide to play a prank on Edward (Oaklee Pendergast - The Impossible (2012), Wer (2013), Casualty (1986)) and lock him in a room by himself. The scene was pretty scary and I felt attached to the little boy and felt his fears.

I totally love how the director lets the audience be a part of the movie by letting us look for the women in black along with the kids and teachers. The movie received a seven because all of the child actors did an amazing job with their parts and the teachers all did an amazing job as well. There was a lot of fabulous jump scares but there was not much elements to the movie. The director has a lot of potential and I cannot wait to see more movies from him.
